Using cheap bubble wrap for your next move can help you save some cash. Not only will you save on the bubble wrap itself, the cheap bubble wrap will help prevent your fragile items from being broken or damaged during transport. Knowing in advance what items will need to be secured with bubble wrap will help you buy the right amount of bubble wrap as well as the right type.

Basic cheap bubble wrap will come in a large roll that you can cut off as much as you need for individual items. Widths of the bubble wrap will vary from 12 inches to 108 inches (1-9 feet). The bubbles in cheap bubble wrap also come in different sizes. Small bubbles are 3/16 of an inch, medium is 5/16 inch, and large is ½ inch. The largest sizes are only for wrapping things like large antiques, glass coffee tables or items with corners that might damage other pieces. Even then, large custom boxes or moving blankets can often accomplish the same thing for little or no cost. The small rolls of cheap bubble wrap are ideal for dishes and small appliances, such as toaster ovens.

While the basic cheap bubble wrap rolls are the most common way to protect your possessions, there are several other types of specialty bubble wrap for various items. For example, a person who needs to move an extensive wine collection might find a wine skin with an interior bubble wrap and an adhesive flap to help prevent the bottles from breaking and to keep them from leaking onto everything else if they should happen to break.

Other bubble wrap products include bubble wrap bags. These are ideal for protecting small items like exterior computer components or rolls of film. Bubble wrap bags are available with open ends, self-adhesive closures, slide closures or zipper closures. Keep dirt and dust off a computer hard drive or memory devices with anti-static bubble wrap.

A good roll of cheap bubble wrap is often enough to protect dishes, furniture edges and other common household items that are the most likely to be damaged in a move. When that’s not enough, specialty bubble wrap can take care of the rest. Knowing what you need before you begin packing can help save a lot of time, effort and money.
