I love Roberto madera salon. I go there when I visit the desert. There are a couple people I am not so enchanted with; I just go to the ones I like and enjoy the experience. So far, my hair services have been great. And I love the Davines product line. I recommend.

The good: clean, beautiful salon. Mostly friendly staff. They sell a wonderful line of products, that really work. The bad: I went to Melody, who seems to have a prejudice against people over 50. All I wanted was a root touch up and a trim. Her whole dialogue was punctuated with trying to make me look younger. " if you let me cut more of your hair, you'll look younger. Styling it this way or that will make you look younger." Since I've been told I look at least 10 years younger than my age, I'm not trying to look younger. My neck length bob looks good on me and I like it. Isn't it supposed to be about what the CLIENT wants, not the stylist's opinion?! She cut it at least 1 1/2 inches shorter than I wanted. The color did not cover my gray. The blow dry it took her forever to do left my hair oily and flat. Also, almost $200 for a touch up and trim is really too expensive. That said, I bought products and like them. There were other 50+ year olds in there who looked very happy. In conclusion, I recommend only on the conditions that you avoid Melody, and have a huge income to support the cost. True, it is a nicer salon. But I think they could lower the prices a little, and be much busier.

I also reviewed on another site. They ruined my hair! Was over bleached at first, but the touch up on my roots was brassy. Roberto overbooked himself and didn't have time to correct my hair. It ended looking greenish gray instead of blond. Expensive and disastrous. It seems to be hit or miss with this place. Lucky you, who say he is great with blond. Mine was ruined and his correction was even worse. Stay away, I certainly will never go back.

I like Roberto Madera salon. I've only been a couple times. And from what I've read, luckily didn't see this melody person. The service was great...the only thing I didn't like was the prices. I know it's a nice salon, but I think they could lower the prices just a little bit. They would be much busier. I will definitely go back when I can afford it.

Love, love, love Roberto and his salon. But he should fire Melody. She did a blow dry on my hair and burned my scalp. Not bad, but it was tender for a few days. She has big dark circles around her eyes. I think she does drugs. And she's a snob. The rest are great there, just don't go to her.

Keyboard problems, I wrote previous review. Idk if Roberto is aware of price problems, make sure you end up paying what they originally quote, not more.

Love the atmosphere and most stylists but a couple are just average. The process are quite high and occasionally change from entrance to payment. O don't know of Roberto is aware of this. I think it's worth the price of you get Roberto, otherwise is kind of chancey. Andake sire you pau what you're originally quoted, not more.

I adore Roberto. And most of his staff. I agree with others, that Melanie or melody is an old hag wannabe young! Always sticking her fake boons in your face, making squint faces, and truing to be elegant. Lol, I was in a couple fashion shows they did, and was near her..and grateful she wasn't working on me. I hate when women won't age gracefully, and like melody, are in their 40s all botox and fake boobs and wearing clothes for 20 something. Other than her, Roberto's is the bomb!

Omg..came across this site and decided to read reviews before writing my own. I wondered who the fat clown with that awful orange hair was awhile back...that woman changes her hair a lot. And she makes ridiculous faces. On to my review. I go to Roberto's as often as I can fit it in my budget, which is about 3-4 times per year. If you have your hair done by Roberto, it's a 5 star experience. With the other stylists, it can be hit and miss. Never awful, but usually not awesome. I recommend Roberto, and do try the products. They're worth the price. Cons, pricey, some stylists not that great, and a little uppity-ness here and there. Pros, with Roberto, it's a winner. Great products and salon ambience.

I adore Roberto, and his salon is great. Most of his staff is good; however, I will only let him color my hair. It is a bit pricy but for him it's worth it. His products are great! The line he uses/sells really is wonderful for your hair. One drawback, I believe the same as mentioned in other posts, is the trash vibe melody. I think she's the one who had carrot orange hair a year or so ago. Looks better on Carrot Top. Seriously, she's a low class wannabe, and anyone who would put that awful color on their hair...especially since it looked so bad on her...is not getting their hands on my hair. I recommend this place with the exception of melody.

I go to Roberto's about 2-3 times a year, when I visit the desert. Roberto is a hair artist, and a caring and compassionate person. I've mostly gone to him the last couple years. He has always made my hair look great. It is expensive, but at a few times a year, I can do it. Only one negative; over the last couple years he's hired a couple people that are not of the excellent caliber his salon is known for. One in particular has lackluster skills and a trashy vibe. I hope he steps back and takes a look at this "artistic" person. One bad apple is all it takes. Blessings, Roberto.

I actually like this salon..at least in Roberto's intention. My hair came out great. I color it at home, close match to cover a few grays. But I need a good cut that I can manage myself at home, and the 2 times I went there they delivered. 3 stars not five because of 2 things. 1-many of the female employees are snobby. You aren't a goddess..stop acting like one. 2-way too expensive. I haven't had the price switches yet that others complain of, but it's too expensive to do on a regular basis. Most of the guys are friendly and great. There is a smell of those nasty plug in scents...other than that, it's a nice salon atmosphere. Please ditch the artificial smells. Yuck. I would like to go back; I'm due for another cut, but it's not in my budget for awhile. Too bad; I liked my haircut a lot. I'd recommend with these caveats: go to one of the male stylists, bring your lavender essence oil, and a big fat wallet.

My hair color came out OK but I wasn't thrilled with the cut. Nice atmosphere, agree with previous posters that salon needs to stop with the scents. Plenty of attitude, too expensive for a not quite average hair service. Hype all the way.

I went there before the holidays on a recommendation. Although the stylist was very young, she did a great jib with my haircut and blow out. The salon does have a plug ins smell, and the attitude is...pompous? The girl who did my hair was good, 2 stars for her. And it was very expensive.

I went to Roberto madera's while visiting the desert several years ago, when it first opened. It was expensive but had top notch stylists and services. I hadn't visited in a few years; came back to Roberto's before the holidays and was terribly disappointed. The stylists, with few exceptions are uppity and rude, and I did not like my hair. The stylist burned my scalp with the blow dryer..it hurt for a few days. It smells like those cheap plug ins scents in there..no regard for people with allergies or respiratory problems. And the cost has gone way, way up. The sparse decor is someone's idea of a zen ripoff. And it doesn't hide the quality lacking in the stylists. Never going back.

Roberto himself seems very nice,as do very few of the stylists. I went to Melody, the pudgy chick with the grimace expressions and 4-sizes-too-small-popoing-out-of-em pants. She did not listen; I hated my hair and went someplace else for a color redo. The cut was way too short-when it grows out a few inches it's getting redone too. Her attitude stunk as badly as her styling techniques. All for a HEFTY price tag. They don't refund there; they only fix. Skip this; you'll be glad you did.

My new year's resolution is to not spend $ on things that aren't worth it. No more TV shopping channels, and no more salons like this one, Roberto Madera. Been there a couple times, hair was below par, and outrageously expensive prices. Plus, there's a stuck up feeling there. If you're way expensive and can't do my hair in the way I want it, which is simple to do, you're not getting my business. In NY and Beverly Hills these same prices pay for beautiful hair services, and friendly helpful stylists and staff. Roberto Madera Salon, you need a serious reality check.

My cut and color were OK. But, there was an advertised special, which I called and confirmed. After the service, the cashier charged me $30 more than the price I was quoted over the phone, and by the stylist. Roberto was "on break, or out doing errands" yeah right. I paid it to avoid a scene but I told all my family and friends about their bait and switch prices. And now I'm telling you. It's a fancy place with a snotty vibe and rips everyone off. Don't go there.

I went last month for cut & blowout. Good job, no better or worse than any other salon. The hair care stiff they sell is great, but expensive. My advice...skip the overly high prices and mean moods in the salon (except for the guys, they're nice) and get your hair done somewhere else and buy Roberto's products.

Will not go back. Got color & cut with Melodie recently. She has a snobby attitude, which I wouldn't have cared about had she done a good job on my hair. The cut was OK, but she used the thinning scissors too much and my hair looks ragged. The color didn't even cover my gray hairs. And it was too dark, darker than I'd asked for. She supposedly studied under some famous someone from way back- he obviously didn't teach how to cover gray. The salon itself was nice, but the attitudes were cold and the prices very high. Skip this and save your money. It's the epitome of hype.
