I contracted with Adam, the owner of The Carpet Man, to install HARDWOOD floors and carpets in my home. He sent me to see Nancy (office manager) at the store, to make my HARDWOOD choice and my carpet choice. I entered the store and told Nancy that I wanted to see her HARDWOOD flooring samples. She brought 6 samples and pushed the more expensive, waterproof wood. I chose the "waterproof hardwood". NEVER we're the words "VINYL" or "WOOD-LOOK" spoken by me or Adam, or Nancy. On the last day of installation, the installers told me the flooring they had installed had NO wood in it...I had a house full of PLASTIC flooring! Nancy had mixed this sample of vinyl wood-look flooring in with the hardwood samples and pushed it. I called and texted Adam immediately and asked him how and why he had installed linoleum throughout my house and charged me almost $10,000 for it. He told me he was on vacation and to talk to Nancy. He SHAMED me and said I was the first person to complain about this product. Very manipulative.
I went online and read reviews on the vinyl and they are all terrible...he said that those reviews meant nothing. I met with Nancy at the store, told her that she had slipped the vinyl sample in with the wood without telling me...she didn't deny it, but she was suddenly unable to produce the sample of the offending vinyl. In addition,I have a hallway that is only half done, which leads me to believe that The Carpet Man operates really close to the bone.
He told me that he is installing this product in new homes all over Hidden Valley. I wonder if those customers also think they got hardwood. I am going to pursue this legally if they do not act professionally & with integrity. This was a bait and switch. Something smells really bad about the entire transaction. I would encourage you to get an installer from Sonoma or Napa County...stay away from The Carpet Man!
