Provided by YP.comSpent the week in Yuma on business and had the opportunity to visit El Charro Cafe once for lunch and once for dinner - both with friends.
Mexican style tacos - loved them! Authentic Mexican on the north side of the border for lunch. Water as my beverage.
Combinacion Numero Uno another night for dinner. A rolled taco, beef tamale, red enchilada, green chile con carne, refried beans, rice and a flour tortilla hit the spot. As for my beverage, I shared a pitcher of Margarita with 1800 Jose Cuervo.
Meals were tasty and well prepared. Tortilla chips with mild and hot sauce served for both lunch and dinner. Plenty of food - I ate it all.
Busy Mexican restaurant that has been around for over 5 decades. Friendly and polite staff - server came back on several occasions to check on us.
Parking is a bit tight - but I can see how that would happen when you are the busiest place in town.

The best.. the only thing I miss in Yuma. EL CHARRO
- General Info
- El Charro Cafe is one of Yuma’s oldest family owned restaurants. Established in 1949 by Tony and Lola Gutierrez, it was located on Fourth Avenue. It quickly became a favorite spot for Yuma families. In 1970, the Gutierrez’ relocated to a larger building on Eighth Street. In 1975, the business was passed down to their son, Raul (Sonny) who kept up the tradition using the same recipes started by his parents. In 2015, Raul’s daughters took over the restaurant and are proud to carry on their grandparents and father’s legacy. El Charro’s food is of traditional and Americanized Mexican dishes. Most people who visit El Charro Café come for the famous green saddle, the restaurant’s most popular dish. The Gutierrez Family is excited to be celebrating 70 years of serving the Yuma community. We strive to provide all our guests with an amazing experience and are extremely grateful for our loyal customers who have helped us earn Yuma’s Best Mexican Food Restaurant In 2017 & 2018.El Charro Cafe is one of Yuma’s oldest family owned restaurants.
