The Forbes Transfer Company is a freight shipping company located in Wilson, N.C. Its fleet consists of 50 company owned tractors, more than 300 trailers and both 45-foot flat beds and 53-foot dry freight vans. The company also employs 40 full-time owner-operators. This number increases to approximately 75 owner-operators during the tobacco season. Forbes primary area of operations is North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. It does have common and contract authority to operate in all states east of the Mississippi River. The flat bed division provides services for such noted companies as United States Gypsum, Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Philip Morris, Potomac Supply, Weyerhaueser, Nucor Steel and GAF. Its dry freight van division provides service for such noted companies as Anheuser-Busch, Smurfit Stone, Standard Commercial Tobacco, Universial Leaf Tobacco, Diamon, Lowes, Philip Morris USA, RA Jeffrey's and Tobacco Rag Processors.
