      General Info
      Founded in 1917, the Chalet Nursery & Garden Shops is Chicagoland's largest nursery and garden center. It offers the most extensive selection of plants and garden supplies, as well as award-winning landscape design, construction and maintenance. Chalet is a family-owned business that started as a simple yard care company called L. J. Thalmann Architectural Landscaping, located in Wilmette, Ill., and evolved into the Wilmette Nursery and Garden Center in 1942. Chalet Nursery and Garden Shops is located at the corner of Route 41 and Lake Avenue in Wilmette. Through the years, its landscape division also continued to grow, which led to the development of its spacious complex located on 16 acres in North Chicago. This facility houses all departments of the landscape division, including landscape design/installation, landscape maintenance, turf management and plant purchasing.
