would rate this -10 if possible. These people discriminate against disabled. Yes it is beautiful and well kept. But I am a disabled person who requires a service animal with me at all times, just as one would oxygen tank or a wheel chair. I also live local and heard the owners were not always the nicest people around. So not long after the after being hospitalized I really wanted to go and enjoy some nature. I called ahead to speak to them about my dog and after asking if this would be a proiblem was told yes. I informed them that that was a federal offense and left them open to a law suit. Upon which I was promptly hung up on. I called back and was sent to an answering machine.

The man owner is very rude the girls showered and left little bit of water on the floor in the shower stall that mind you is at the river, community shower, they were just getting sand off. He proceeds to chew them out & then says they should be raised right. I had to walk away so I didn't act stupid in front of my kids. This man is Mental

I was to meet my daughter in law who was already there to drop off my daughter. When we arrived the owner would not let us drop her off. He made us wait until my sister in law came out of the water to come get her. I call this being responsible!!!! He was polite and talked to us very nicely. I bothered this poor man a few more times that day. 10 minutes after dropping her off I had to come back through and bring them the water toys I forgot to send. He laughed and was just sweet about it. Later that evening around 7:15 my daughter realized she forgot her bathing suit in the bathroom. Here i come and bother him again and he was GREAT joking with us and being very understanding. I am sorry others have had a bad experience. However, I have not. It is a safe and fun place where I can go and not worry about trouble!!!

Nice place, terrible owner

The owner, Larry, is one of the rudest most hateful individuals I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I have seen him be rude to many other people in the past but never really had an issue with him myself until this past Saturday.

My brother and I put in at Mason Ferry Rd and had intentions on floating to Natchez Trace Rd. As we fell behind schedule we started to realize that we would not have enough daylight to make it so at 7:30pm we arrived on the sandbar at Escatawpa Hollow. When my wife arrived at the campground at 8pm. to pick us up she was treated VERY rudely by the owner because "he was trying to eat". He yelled down from the house, "get up here and talked to me!!" Against her better judgement she walked up to the house where she continued to be treated very rudely. At first, he refused to let her on the property to pick us up. (Their website clearly states no in/out traffic after 10pm. Last I checked 8pm is still earlier than 10pm) As he escorted her to the boat launch, I met them at the top of the launch. He was rude to me before he even realized that I was her husband. When I asked him why he was being so rude to my wife he replied, "this is my property and I can act any way I please." At one point he acted as if he was going to try to make us get back in our kayaks and continue down the river in the dark. He then told us to get our gear loaded up, get off his property and never come back. That's no problem, after decades of being a loyal customer he has lost this customer FOREVER.

I just don't understand why a business owner that deals with the public would want to treat their customers so rudely. His wife is just as sweet as she could be but he is driving all his customers away. I really wish someone would buy the place from them because it is a very nice place which I have loved for years. If someone that's a little nicer would buy it me and probably hundreds of others that he's been rude to would return but not until.

Father's Day Nightmare

My wife and I have had a couple bad encounters with this campground and it's owner. At the beginning of the summer my wife and I was looking for a fun place to take the kids swimming for the summer. She found this place and thought it would be great since it was only a few miles from our house. Like in the previous review, she calls one morning to get prices and the owner answers the phone, my wife starts to ask him about his prices and he cuts her off and very rudely tells her not to be calling waking him up so early in the morning (7am). She apologized and told him she thought this was a business line and not a residential line and he hung up on her. My wife, kids, parents, and I rented two camp sites side by side so we could camp out there for a couple days for Father's Day on Father's Day weekend. For the two days we were there, the owner made what was supposed to be a very relaxing, enjoyable Father's Day weekend for my family very very miserable. When we arrived that Saturday afternoon about 3pm we set up our tents and it was really hot so we brought a small generator so we could run some fans. The owner drives his John Deer Gator up in our camp site and very rudely tells us that if we wanted electricity we would have to pay extra for a RV site thats away from the water and completely unnecessary for our needs. We were polite dispite his attitude, but he then proceeds to threaten us that he will kick us out if he has to come back. We never saw any rules posted about generators and the lady at the front gate told us it was fine. Later that evening I took my three girls, ages 6, 7, and 8, up to the bath house so they could wash off and bath before bedtime. Two of my girls were in the bathroom taking a shower and my other girl and I were standing outside the bathroom washing the sand off of her before her shower. Well, while I'm tending to my daughter outside, I turn around to see the owner walking into the girls bathroom while they were in there naked still showering, yelling and cursing at them that they better get the hell out of there. My father instincts kicked in at that moment and I charged toward the guy to get him out of the girls bathroom and he turns around and starts yelling for their parents. I told him I was standing right there and saw and heard what he did and told him that he better not approach my children again especially while they are naked in the bathroom and if he had something to say to them that he better come to me first. He started rambling about using all his hot water and I stopped him and said that I didn't care and if he tried to approach my children again I was going to call the Sheriff. He told me that it was his bathroom and he could do what he wanted and I then told him that we could go ahead and call the Sheriff out there now and let him explain why he was trying to enter the girls bathroom with two naked little girls in there especially after he was told they were in the naked. I stood in his path and would not let him enter until the children left. My wife and I walked up to the front to complain to the lady at the gate, which is his wife, and the next day he came back to our camp site and told us that he didn't appreciate us attacking his good character. What a joke. After the way this owner treated us and watching how he was treating others, we decided that this was our last trip to this place and decided that we rather drive way out of our way to go to some place nice where we are appreciated than come to this hell hole and be treated like dirt and we informed them of that on our way out. This place is not family, children, or anybody friendly! Beware and stay away from this place at all cost. There are much better places to go than to come here and be treated badly. I just wish there was somewhere or somebody to file a complaint to so this place can be investigated and let more people know about the horrors of this place.

No Place Like It!!!

We canoes last weekend and it was absolutely breathtaking!! Larry and Janice are two of the nicest people I've ever met. They welcomed us with open arms. If you want a no rigamorow experience from a man who cares about your well-being, go see the folks at Escatawpa Hollow. Larry knows his stuff and is protective of his customers. The cabins are beautiful and clean. We will definately be back again and again.
