- Dental Examination
- X-rays
- Fluoride TreatmentThe Doctor will then gently examine your child's teeth, gums and the remainder of the mouth. X-rays will only be taken with a parent's permission. We do not take x-rays needlessly. The teeth will be cleaned and a fluoride treatment applied. Additional treatment, if required, will be discussed and scheduled for a future date.
- Dental SealantsA sealant is a protective coating that is applied to the chewing surfaces (grooves) of the back teeth (premolars and molars), where four out of five cavities in children are found. This sealant acts as a barrier to food, plaque and acid, thus protecting the decay-prone areas of the teeth.

- CrownsKnocked Out Permanent Tooth: If possible, find the tooth. Handle it by the crown, not by the root. You may rinse the tooth with water only. DO NOT clean with soap, scrub or handle the tooth unnecessarily. Inspect the tooth for fractures. If it is sound, try to reinsert it in the socket. Have the patient hold the tooth in place by biting on a gauze. If you cannot reinsert the tooth, transport the tooth in a cup containing the patient's saliva or milk. If the patient is old enough, the tooth may also be carried in the patient's mouth (beside the cheek). The patient must see a dentist IMMEDIATELY! Time is a critical factor in saving the tooth.
- PulpotomyDental caries (cavities) and traumatic injury are the main reasons for a tooth to require pulp therapy. Pulp therapy is often referred to as a "nerve treatment", "children's root canal", "pulpectomy" or "pulpotomy". The two common forms of pulp therapy in children's teeth are the pulpotomy and pulpectomy.
- Root Canal TreatmentA pulpectomy is required when the entire pulp is involved (into the root canal(s) of the tooth). During this treatment, the diseased pulp tissue is completely removed from both the crown and root. The canals are cleansed, disinfected and, in the case of primary teeth, filled with a resorbable material. Then, a final restoration is placed. A permanent tooth would be filled with a non-resorbing material.

- Tooth ExtractionsDr. Jamie, who is on faculty at both Columbia University School of Dental Medicine and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, provides care through two wonderful non profit organizations, "KIDS", Kids International Dental Services (www.kidservices.org) and "HCI", Health Care International (hcireachout.com). Teaming up with her dental students and other dedicated dental health care workers, Drs. Jamie and Jon have provided care to children in the countries of Cambodia, Mongolia, Guatemala and Jamaica. These children have absolutely no access to dental care. Many are orphaned and, in fact, have never seen a toothbrush. Dental decay is rampant in most of these areas and delivery of care is complicated because of the lack of running water and electricity. Despite the conditions, the dental teams are able to provide hundreds of dental extractions, cleanings and preventative services to their children patients during their one week visits.
- OrthodonticsA native of Boston, the doctor received his BS from Tufts University. While in dental school, he was elected into the omicron kappa upsilon dental honor society which recognizes academic and clinical excellence. Dr Jon completed his two years of orthodontic specialty training and received his certificate in orthodontics from Tufts Dental School as well. After meeting Dr Jamie during her dental school interview, they married and following graduation they moved to New Jersey to raise their family. Dr Jon joined Dr Jamie's dad, Dr. Diament, in the practice of orthodontics in 1987.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsDr Jon Golub is our in-house Orthodontist. He provides complimentary orthodontic consultations for all of our patients. Dr. Jon is specially trained in interceptive orthodontics. His philosophy is that "catching problems and correcting them at the right age will lead to a healthier and more normal dental development." Dr. Jon also has advanced training in Invisalign for children and adults and Incognito (hidden braces on the back of teeth). As an adult, you may remember your headgear; don't worry, no headgears are used in Dr. Jon's practice.
