If you are going to apply for employment at this place, avoid it at all costs!!!
They are not professional. I interviewed with Lili Z. Chou on 5/18/20 where she asked me my national origin. This is against the Equal Employment Act! By the way, I am a U.S. citizen, who although was not born in the U.S., my entire education was in the U.S. (from K-bachelors degree).
Also, on 5/18/20, at the end of the interview, she said she would do a background check and asked for a copy of my drivers license. I reminded her that I need to sign a consent form so that a background check could be done. She then said she would email me the consent forms in the next few days (after 5/18/20) But she never did. I sent her a follow up email on 5/26/20 asking her to send the background check forms and she responded she would send the forms by the end of the week of 5/25/20 but she never sent them.
On 7/31/20, I went to this store and saw a female at the front desk. I asked if she was “Lili Chou?” She responded, “yes.” I told her who I was (Ozer Batu) and told her of the interview promise she made and subsequent promise after that. Instead of addressing my pressing issue in a professional manner she said, “I can not talk. I have a customer to go to.” At this point, an assistant guy came and Lili Chou asked the assistant guy to talk to me.
I explained everything to the assistant guy. He then asked me, in a threatening manner, to “come to the back” which I did. The assistant guy said I did not follow up with Lili Chou. I explained to the assistant guy, multiple times, that I directly communicated with Lili Chou at least twice of the request for consent forms.Then, all of a sudden, Lili Chou appeared from a doorway (about 20 ft. away) and told the assistant guy he had a phone call at which point he left and I left.
Lili Chou could have made it a lot easier by just giving me a direct “yes” or “no” answer. Instead, they did what they did. This is not a place for an employment opportunity and based on my personal experience, I wouldn’t do any shopping there either!!!
