The Hartt School Community Division of the University of Hartford is an arts school for music, dance and theatre. It serves more than 2,700 students and employs over 150 faculty members. The school offers a wide variety of programs, including private music lessons, fitness and dance classes, preprofessional programs for high school students and a theater program for elementary school children. Its dance department operates classes, such as ballet, modern dance, hip hop, yoga, Pilates and tango. The school also offers financial aid to precollege students with demonstrated need. The Hartt School Community Division of the University of Hartford is a certified member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The school is located in West Hartford, Conn., and has more than 5 branches throughout Connecticut.
