Several years ago I was diagnosed with an extremely serious spinal condition. Thanks to the neurosurgeon I was seeing at Saint Louis University hospital, the only short term recourse for my condition was drugs, more drugs and stronger drugs. After several years of this therapy, I finally found another Neurosurgeon, and underwent surgery to relieve the pain. When the pain went away my body didn't wait for me to ween off of the drugs & I went into such severe withdrawal that I had to be hospitalized. That is where I became acquainted with Dr. Handwerk. In three short days I was released to go home, and had absolutely zero residual withdrawal symptoms. I have continued to see her on a random basis due to my continuing need for additional surgeries. She has kept me out of trouble when I had to be exposed to more pain meds. Now, I need her again to help me thru a shoulder replacement surgery and she has refused to let me make an appointment because I must have missed an appointment. BAD!

Sage is the most caring office I've ever been to, the staff is amazing, caring, thoughtful and very effecient. Dr. Julie Handwerk is very down to earth and not full of the garbage like the other Dr's I've been to, the first time I saw her I was immediatly comfortable and able to open up. She's very compassionate, will actually listen and take that extra time if you need it. Hollie is pleasant when I come in and always patient and helpful when I talk to her. As many times as I call with problems she goes above and beyond to help me and doesn't seem to be bothered with me at all. The other one I've spoke to a few times and she seems to be caring and pleasant as well and tries to really help. They make it a very comfortable place and they treat you like family, they even have coffee and refreshments for you. I've also never gone in and anyone have a bad attitude there. I would definitely recommend Sage Psychiatry. You won't be sorry and you feel so much better when you leave.

Dr.Julie Handwerk is awesome! she is extremely kind and caring and she has a very unique way that is calming and comfortable yet very professional. her staff is the same... I would definitely recommend sage psychiatry to anyone in need of this type of therapy. for me personally, I was given my life back thanks to this wonderful dr.!
