- Oral Cancer ScreeningDuring your checkup, expect a review of your dental and medical history, an examination of your mouth that includes oral cancer screening, a professional cleaning, possibly a fluoride treatment, and a general assessment of your home hygiene practices.
- Teeth CleaningHealthy gums have little to no buildup of plaque and tartar, hug the teeth tightly, and do not bleed. Bleeding gums may be a sign of gingivitis or periodontitis. Gingivitis is the early stage of periodontal disease. It develops as plaque irritates the gums, causing them to become red, tender, swollen, and likely to bleed. Gingivitis can usually be reversed with a professional dental cleaning and improved oral hygiene. If plaque is not removed, it can harden into tartar.
- Fluoride TreatmentFluoride treatments use fluoride concentrations that are much higher than those than found in over-the-counter toothpastes and rinses. Fluoride can safely provide extra protection from decay, especially for patients who are at higher risk for dental caries. Treatments take only a few minutes to apply in the dentist’s office and are typically done following a cleaning.
- Dental SealantsSealants are barriers that the dentist places over vulnerable tooth surfaces to prevent cavities. While regular brushing and flossing can effectively clean the smooth surfaces of teeth, these tools miss particles that get trapped in grooves and depressions. Sealants are typically placed over the chewing surfaces of the molars and premolars, where decay is most common, to seal out contaminants.
- Fillings
- Resin CompositeA simple and inexpensive procedure, bonding uses tooth-colored composite resin to repair decayed, chipped, fractured, misshapen, or discolored teeth.
- VeneersVeneers are thin layers of material that are bonded to teeth using a resin cement. They are used to repair areas that are chipped, worn down, misaligned, unevenly spaced, or stained.
- CrownsRadiographs, often referred to as X-rays, are an important diagnostic tool used to evaluate the overall health of teeth, gums, and the supporting jawbone. The need for X-rays depends on a number of factors, including cavity history, the presence of crowns and fillings, dry mouth, oral hygiene, and periodontal disease history.
- BridgesA dental implant is essentially an artificial tooth root that is surgically placed into the jawbone. One or more missing teeth can be replaced by attaching a crown, a fixed bridge, or a full set of dentures to the implants. The implant material, which is typically pure titanium, is extremely biocompatible, and the bone treats the implant just as if it were made of bone. The bone cells attach to the implant in a process called osseointegration. After an initial healing period, during which the implant is left undisturbed underneath the gum tissue, it is uncovered and connected to a small post, which will serve as the foundation for the tooth or teeth that the implant will support.

- Restorative DentistryDamaged or missing teeth can undermine your confidence and cause you to hide your smile. We offer several options for repairing or replacing teeth that have been broken, chipped, decayed, weakened, or lost.
- Root Canal TreatmentA root canal is the removal of the nerve and blood supply from the internal portion of a tooth. The hollow central chamber of a tooth is then filled with an inert material. This may be necessary due to a deep cavity, trauma to a tooth, or a fracture.

- Tooth ExtractionsDry socket is a postoperative complication of tooth extraction that involves inflammation of the bone. This usually occurs where the blood clot fails to form or is lost from the socket. This leaves an empty socket, where the bone is exposed to the oral cavity, resulting in increased pain and delayed healing time. A medicated packing may be appropriate to treat dry socket.
- OrthodonticsInterceptive orthodontics involves diagnosing and treating improper tooth positioning as soon as it’s detected. Doing so can reduce the severity of a developing problem and either eliminate or reduce the need for more comprehensive orthodontic treatment in the future.

- Teeth WhiteningA professional cleaning is a great place to start to brighten your smile. A professional polish can remove some surface stains from the teeth. After a cleaning, you can decide between over-the-counter and professional whitening products. The active ingredient in many over-the-counter products is not concentrated enough to achieve the degree of whitening many people desire. We find our patients often get the best results with custom-fitted whitening trays that use a higher concentration of professional-grade whitening gel.
