Wow! Hook Tire went above & beyond. Issue misdiagnosed by dealer & was going to cost me over $1,400. Hook Tire's diagnostics revealed issue was an item covered by my 3rd party warranty. HUGE savings to my family! They handled all the warranty company reviews & inspection. Highly recommend their service & tires - we've purchased several sets over the years! What a blessing to have Hook Tire looking out for us!

Highly disappointed with the charges for service. I received quotes for need service for my car. The quote was a little high but they were around the corner and I was looking for a quality place to Bring my car for all my future services. Since this quote was given to me late on a Saturday morning and they close at 1 o'clock they were unable to work on my car that particular day. I had to leave for work for a week out of town therefore my wife brought the car back the following Tuesday. After doing the originally quoted work I had my wife to ask them to look at my air conditioner to see why it's no longer blowing cold air. Later that evening after speaking with my wife she told me that they were not sure what the problem was therefore They wanted to fill the AC with Freon and told her to bring you back in a couple days after driving little while. So the original service cost me touch over $1000 and after-the-fact I found out that putting Freon in my AC cost 150 bucks. (Holy crap,right?) Fine, surely once they find the problem this will equate in the the total AC service. so my wife brought the car back the following Friday to have them find where the leak may be in the AC unit. Also when my wife brought the car back on Friday I asked her to have them to just check the brakes and make sure that they're OK. They seem like they needed to be changed because they were squealing. Now here is where the snow ball gets bigger.

After all said and done they charge me an additional $270 to fix the AC leak (nothing major being replaced, compressor or condenser etc...) and $100 just to adjust my brakes not replacing anything but all labor for $100. No new breaks or fluid or anything, just adjustment. At this point I'm pretty upset because what cost $100 labor just to adjust on my brakes... I could get a whole new set of brakes put on the front and back for 150 bucks .... The bottom line and my point is this place nickels and dimes the hell out of you and overcharges for everything that they do with absolutely no courtesy to any discount after spending 1500 dollars at the shop and none of the work was major repairs.

I will address this issue come Monday! ����

I have ALWAYS been satisfied with the friendly, competent, and professional service I have received at Hook Tire. They are always honest and up - front , explaining in detail everything they found with my car. I recently had a bad experience at the dealer garage and brought my car straight to Hook for a second opinion. (They did not know about my dealer experience.) technicians at Hook Tire found the problem right away and fixed it! The price was very reasonable, and I went home very satisfied and confident in my car. I will definitely go back!!

Most crooked mechanics I have ever dealt with. Slowly bleed you dry with small repairs that increase in price and frequency as time goes on. They suckered me for over 5 years. Beware. Kill you with kindness as they take your wallet

Top Notch automotive repair facility! I was very impressed with my first visit to the shop the other day after recently moving to Waxhaw. First off it was nice to see a clean shop and a friendly as well as knowledgeable staff. Two things I thought was extra neat that Larry Hook the owner himself was at the counter and introduced himself and we talked cars and life a little. Second off Jason Miles the General Manager I believe of the place knows his stuff. Between my Tahoe and my wife's Mercedes we were able to correct some issues that no other place not even a dealership could. Also we purchased two sets of tires and even though never ran Goodyear tires that much I will never purchase anything else. I also would like to say thanks to Rich. I even got the meet the tech and he was professional. Listen from a guy that just moved to town and spent about $5k with this place on the first couple visits I highly recommend them to anyone. Again thanks again to everyone for doing what your suppose to do and that is take care of the customer!!!

I'm so glad I decided to have an oil change and tire rotation done in NC rather than wait until I returned to MI and that our daughter, Emily , and her husband, Todd, referred me to your facility for service. I appreciate your cordial welcome and that you rode with me to listen for the noise that has been annoying me for some time.



What a stroke of good fortune it was that your Service Manager, Jason Miles, formerly worked at a Lexus/Toyota dealership and was able to identify the source of the noise based on his experience there. I appreciate his offer to have whomever does the repair here call him to discuss details about the problem and its fix.



I'm particularly grateful Jason determined that the front rotors and pads were worn below specifications, which could have caused a problem on my trip home. Replacing them was the right call. The brakes performed smoothly, quietly and effectively durng my drive.



My thanks to you, Jason and Everett at the front desk for the courteous, considerate, professional service.

I've been a customer for years and I stop doing business here for years too. I remember randy that's when I stopped coming then I tried again a few years later when ken was there and he was the best and a really good people person and then mark I liked him too but these new guys horrible customer skills and after reading all these reviews I see I'm not alone must be under news ownership and I won't be back

I am not a former employee and after having received great service for 11 years, I would not reccomend this shop to my worst enemy. Our Ford Lariat truck was there several times, and actually was returned to us with the dashboard partially disassembled. One part was in the back seat. It still did not work. I took it to another shop and they found 25 wire ties holding together the shift cable. Out of $1,800 being spent there, I got a refund of $100.00. The head of the mechanics told me that my daughter was shifting too hard..and this was after the multiple repairs failed. He had not even seen the truck!

We've been costumers here since we moved to Waxhaw in 2001. I moved to Virginia recently and got a new truck. It had MINOR issues (locks not working, sometimes the starter didn't work, etc). I drove it all the way down from Norfolk, VA to Waxhaw JUST to have them fix it. First off, they weren't giving me, my mother, or my father a straight answer for THREE WEEKS! Finally, after calling them at least half a dozen times they said it was all done and ready for pick up. The truck ran HORRIBLE, idling rough, and just didn't sound right to me. Got it home....it died. It wouldn't start unless you had it in neutral....they came back and "fixed" it again. So I brought it back to VA....only to have it die on me, again. Not only that...but I CAN NOT put the thing in park...it rolls back. We called Hook Tire only to have them say I'm "shifting it to hard into park". Give me a break. Thanks for STEALING our money. We will never EVER recommend this JOKE for a company ever again. Sad.

I have been a customer here for 5 years and never had a problem but my last 2 visits i fell like the new service manager is very pushy. they raised there prices twice of the has 4 months and there are a lot of new faces ..it seems like the whole place has changed.. i wont be back ... trying summerfields today

This review applies GENERALLY TO GOODYER AUTO SERVICE CENTERS. I HAVE USED HOOK SERVICE ON ONE OCCASSION&THE SAME 'ISSUE OF FINDING CRITICAL PROBLEMS THAT WEREN'T REALLY CRITICAL, AND CERTAINLY COULD BE FIXED FOR MUCH LESS-DID PRESENT ITSELF. MY MAJOR COMPLAINT IS THAT GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTER LOCATED AT HIGHWAY 160 IN FORT MILL SOUTH CAROLINA, DIAGNOSED IN MAY COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY AND VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS-&- WOULD NOT IN THE END HONOR THEIR OWN WARRANTY INFORMATION.SO: IN READING THIS 'REVIEW', PLEASE CONSIDER THE DIFFERENCE IN MY LEVEL OF INTERACTION WITH BOTH FACILITIES.Have used {GOODYEAR SERVICE CENTERS; FT.MILL(hwy 521 @ hwy160), & and Hook Service(Waxhaw) in the past-i feel strongly that anyone considering these facilities be forewarned with informatio i got a a very expensive 'lesson learned'. If your purpose is single-fold, and you are steadfast about ONLY ALLOWING THEM TO DO THE WORK YOU ARE ASKING FOR, AND YOU ARE {at least generally versed in auto needs}. For example; you are going for a specific 'service' like an oil change or minor repair; there is no problem-but {personal experience has shown that; if you allow them to say "what's wrong with or (diagnose) a percieved problem, NEITHER FACILITY {SEEMS TO HAVE} ANY ETHICAL COMPUNCTIOUN AGAINST 'FINDING EXPENSIVE REPAIRS-&-SAYING THEY ARE CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TO BE FIXED BY THEMIMMEDIATELY'-WHILE application of SOME COMMON SENSE SCRUTINY WILL NOT BEAR UP, IN FACT, THE REPAIRS WILL PROBABLY BE FOUND ASNOTNEEDED AT ALL. Beware of allowing them to make major repairs, in my casei was stuck, and later found the lied [they nor Corporate would stand behind their own warrenty. I tried to file a complaint with the BBB[AFTER TRYING SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY AND BEING IGNORED. THE BBB DOESN`T EVEN SEEM TO CARE AS THEY USED TO, BECAUSETHEY SAID I HAD TO JUMP THRU ALL KINDS OF LOOPS TO GET A COMPLAINT FILED.

Never had a problem

I've been a customer of Hook Tire & Service since it opened in Waxhaw. Although the managers have changed a few times, I've always found the service to be exceptional and everyone is very courteous. I bring my car in for oil changes every 3000 miles (or whenever the window sticker tells me), and a few major repairs. They have always been willing to work on pricing for me and to expedite my experience. 5 stars.
