- General Info
- Recognized throughout the world by its panda bear logo, World Wildlife Fund leads international efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats. The privately financed organization is active in more than 100 countries throughout the world. It has nearly 1.2 million members in the United States and more than 4 million throughout the rest of the world. The members have three collective goals: saving endangered species, protecting endangered habitats and addressing global threats such as toxic pollution, over-fishing and climate change. WWF was founded by biologist Sir Julian Huxley in the early 1960s. The organization s headquarters in Washington, D.C., were designed and built to conserve resources, limit waste and pollution and protect the surrounding environment.
