My husband and I contacted James & Associates about doing our basic yearly tax returns. They quoted us $280. We knew that was a little more than normal, but agreed thinking that they would probably be able to get us more money back. Upon completion we received a bill for $1,500 and had to pay nearly $1,000 to the IRS in addition. We told them we were quoted $280 (which we kept the paperwork for) and we were treated like we were absolutely crazy. We ended up not picking up the taxes and they said they wouldn't charge us. We went back to our old CPA and were only charged $192 and he told us that we could expect a refund check of $300+. Needless to say a few months later we are still receiving bills from James & Associates. What a joke!
