- OphthalmologyJoseph J. “Jack” Timmes, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Timmes received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he also completed postgraduate training in Ophthalmology. He then completed a fellowship in retinal diseases and surgery at the Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia, perennially ranked as one of the top Ophthalmology programs in the world.
- Macular DegenerationDigital Indocyanine Green Angiography: Highly effective in imaging the layer beneath the retina, the choroid, which may be important in some variants of macular degeneration, and choroidal disorders affecting the retina.
- Laser Eye SurgeryAt Advanced Retina Center, our scope of practice is limited strictly to the diagnosis, treatment, and surgery of retinal diseases. This allows us to provide a highly specialized and dedicated level of retinal service. Due to this focused approach, we do not perform general eye exams, prescribe glasses, nor perform cataract or LASIK surgery.
- CataractsDigital B-Scan Ultrasound: High resolution sonogram that is utilized to evaluate in cases of intraocular bleeding, trauma, tumors, and when the view of the retina is obscured by a corneal scar or extremely dense cataract.
- Internal MedicineDr. Woo graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with Bachelor of Arts with Honors. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine where he also completed an Internal Medicine Internship at Mercy Medical Center. This was followed by Ophthalmology Residency at St. Vincent's Hospital of New York in Manhattan and the New York Medical College. He then completed the Vitreo-Retinal Diseases and Surgery Fellowship at The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School.
- Diabetic RetinopathySolid State Green 532 Laser and Yellow 577 Micropulse Laser: Retinal laser surgery is a highly effective treatment for diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachment, retinal vascular disorders, and subretinal vascular diseases. Micropulse laser is a newer modality that gently treats the retina without the scarring associated with conventional laser.
