I took my car in for some repairs and was handed an invoice due in the amount of $207.35. The car died on the highway in front of thier business. I had given a detailed description of what was happening prior to the engine dying. My invoice reflects that they did look at it, and found a groundwire to the computer corroded. Cleaned it, and replaced some connectors. Total for parts were 4 conectors at $1 each and some heat shrink tubing at $4. Total in parts $8.00. Now for the interesting part... labor cost was $150.00. A total of 47 minutes was performed on the car. My estimate is that they charged me approximately $3.19 a minute for the work they did. Figuring that on an hourly rate. Labor will cost you $191.49 per hour! Staggering!!! I do not make that much a in day's wages. Figuring that amount up again over an eight hour day, they are collecting $1531.92 per mechanic. This fix did not cure my problem, but they did advise on me what is wrong with it for free. I will fix it myself.
