- Bail Bond When arrested, most defendants are allowed to post bond to assure their appearance at all court meetings. A CASH bond may be posted in the amount of the bond, which will be returned to the posting party upon sentencing or bond exoneration, less the fines and court costs. A SURETY bond may be posted though a bondsman for approximately 10% of the bond plus fees. If the defendant appears as required, no further payment is required. If the defendant does not appear as required, the bond is forfeited, and the full amount of bond must be paid to the court to satisfy the obligation. Court Meetings Usually more than one, may include the "arraignment" to determine if the public defender or private attorney will be used and how defendant intends to plead; the "hearing" to hear both sides of the case; a "pretrial" and "trial" if a jury trial is requested; a "sentencing" to decide the penalties and other meetings as the judge may direct. The Defendants Obligations Are outlined in the "Agreement and Conditions of Release". Basically, they are to attend all court meetings, keep the Fast Bail Bonds informed of all future court meetings, changes of address, and job changes. If you miss a court appearance, immediately call your bail bond agent or fast bail bonds so the failure to appear problem can be resolved. The Co-Signer/Indemnitor obligation Is to indemnify the bondsman against loss. The guarantee ii for the amount of the bond.
