My husband and I are both care...

My husband and I are both career driven, professionals with in the community and want the same for our three children! As parents we new there had to be an alternative to daycare, but we didn’t know what was out there. We looked at several private, reputable even elite schools…they all left us feeling as if we would be OUR privilege if our children were accepted at their school. It was not until talking to a friend in CA I learned of a method called Montessori. To place your child with the skill set taught in a true Montessori environment (careful, cause several SAY they are and have no recognized certification)is to give them a “head start” in the game of life! A Montessori child will enter into the first grade feeling capable, independent and confident of their ability. Because this method of learning encompasses the WHOLE child, the teachers will teach the children to not only how to read/write/add/subtract/multiply/divide/geography/science/geography/botany…etc, but will also teach them to follow their moral compass, social graces/manners, care of the environment and conflict/resolution with friends! These little first graders will stand out because they are not motivated by anything (rewards/punishment or adult approval) other than the satisfaction of doing the right thing, the right way with maximum effort! Unfortunately we found Lake Hills Montessori one child too late. WOW what a difference we can see in the two that are getting LHM as a foundation! This is our last year to be apart of this school and I can tell you as a working mom, there are a lot of things to feel guilty about and this is NOT one of them! Best decision we made!

Our family has been going to the Lakehills for 1 year and will be going this year as well. The school has made great strides for our children, the staff really looks out for the kids. Our kids have grasped so much knowledge and look forward to go interact with their friends. If you wonder what a 3yo, 4 yo, or a 5yo can learn is amazing. Our kids know the alphabet, can do math, read a book and very highly prepared for the next level in education. The self pacing and mentoring of the staff is well rounded and the teachers go to seminars and their own classes to keep on top of the latest trends in the Montessori environment. As with any school parents need to stay interactive with their childrens learning and we read, do games and interact with our kids daily. We ask them questions about what was their best in the day and who they sat with at lunch, how the work was in the morning and how circle time was.. I will ask what books were read, who read the book and what happened in the afternoon. The stories and information comes out a mile a minute... they have so much to say. If you are looking for a safe, great place to have your kids learn, Lakehills is a great place to start. The familys that attend there are very diverse and do participate in activites that are planned. The only downfall is that the school ends its education at the kindegarten level very likely due to the Jenks school nearby. We wonder how the kids will transition to a "traditional" school with the level of knowledge they possess and dont want to be bored at that level. Again take the time to go see the school, the staff are very pleasant and will do wonders with your children!
