Established in 1967, Portable Practical Educational Preparation, also known as PPEP, is a human service organization that serves the socioeconomic, educational and health care needs of poor rural and urban people. It provides ENCOMPASS, a self-sufficiency training program for individuals with developmental disabilities that focuses on day treatment, vocational training, job coaching and individual rehabilitative services. The organization also provides microenterprise and small business loan services, as well as technical assistance for business management of rural, home-based and small businesses through its affiliate, PPEP Microbuisiness and Housing Development Corporation. Portable Practical Educational Preparation behavioral health counseling services on issues related to relapse prevention and alcohol and substance abuse addiction recovery, as well as domestic violence and anger and stress management. It also provides medical assistance with issues related to self-esteem, assertiveness, adjustment, depression, divorce parenting, parent and child conflict, and sexual, physical and psychological abuse.
