Our medical staff of 420 physicians work together to ensure you receive the right care in the right location, as close to home as possible. MMCs 3,700 employees are committed to our mission of delivering outstanding care with instinctive kindness. Using a multidisciplinary approach, our staff will collaborate to find the best way to treat your illness or condition. MMC is a 391-bed nonprofit hospital serving as northern Michigans regional referral center. It is the largest of the eight Munson Healthcare system hospitals located throughout northern Michigan. MMC is nationally recognized for superior quality care and operational performance. It is home to an award-winning heart program. It is the only Level II Trauma Center north of Grand Rapids, and has the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in northern Michigan. Munson Medical Center also has been designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. Munson Medical Center works closely with Alpena General Hospital in Alpena, War Memorial Hospital in Sault St. Marie, Helen Devos Childrens Hospital in Grand Rapids, and the University of Michigan Health System, in Ann Arbor. Relationships with these facilities further ensure patients will have a smooth transition when they require the services of a larger medical center.
