- AutismAt Topeka Pediatrics, our main concern is the health of your child. We strongly believe that immunizations play an important role in maintaining your child's health from infancy to adulthood. We recognize that there is much anti-vaccine rhetoric in the press today that has heightened parents concerns regarding immunizations. However, there is no scientific link between vaccines and autism. Thus, we feel it necessary to take a firm stand on the vaccine policies in our practice. If you do not plan on having your infant vaccinated according to our schedule, or not at all, then we respectfully ask you to find a physician who is willing to take this risk with you. Make no mistake: many of the diseases prevented by vaccination have serious consequences, including disfigurement and death. America is fortunate to have significantly decreased the rates of many of these diseases. To protect all children, there needs to be a high immunization rate for a significant portion of the community, often referred to as "herd immunity." The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control view vaccine safety to be of great importance. Safety data on vaccines is well established and testing continues at all times. The team at Topeka Pediatrics monitors ongoing safety of vaccines and agrees with the recommended schedule proposed by the above groups.
- ImmunizationsWe see babies often during the first few years of life to monitor growth and development, review safety issues, and keep immunizations current. Our initial examination happening 2-3 days after discharge. Most babies need additional weight checks during the first few weeks of life to be sure weight gain is appropriate. After the first few weeks, we'll have routine well checks that coincide with immunization visits.

- Primary CareMy plans are to continue supporting office operations in every possible way. We have a great team of providers in both Kim Golder, APRN, PMHS, CPNP and Dr. Kelsey Zubiaur who will continue to provide the highest quality pediatric care for all your child’s health needs. Kim recently completed her pediatric nurse practitioner mental health certification and the office is completing our NCQA Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration in primary care. Dr. Z is a board certified pediatrician and a new mom. I am confident our team will continue to partner with each of you and provide the highest quality of care for years to come.
- Ear InfectionsThese visits are designed for looking at rashes, checking for dehydration, watching breathing, looking at a throat, eyes and to see if a child needs further hands on evaluation during this outbreak. Additionally, these visits can be used for medicine checks for anxiety, depression, or ADHD. Unfortunately, we can’t tell if you have strep, flu, ear infection or have pneumonia without examining your kiddo in person, so those types of visits will still need to be scheduled at the office.
- Family PracticeAt Topeka Pediatrics, our primary concern is your family. We pride ourselves on providing personal and friendly care, always keeping your child's needs first. Striving to be your partner in family health, we are dedicated to fully educating you about your child's health needs.
- Emergency CareWe need your help to become a true medical home! Please think of us as the first place to come for advice and care regarding all your child’s health care needs. This includes physical health, development, emotional health, as well as a place to help you find the appropriate specialist or access community resources. We also want to help coordinate your care. Let us know if you have been treated by a specialist, an emergency department, or any outside health professional. Informing us of medications, test results, and procedures is key to having a complete understanding of your child’s health. Every time you are seen for care outside of our office, please request that a copy of the visit or test result is sent/faxed to us so that we can best serve you.
