General Info

We are a family-owned business in our 72nd year of operation and prefer the personal touch! Our main building is a Tudor style building built with local natural stone around 1928. The property was acquired in 1948 by my father and the Stone House began operating in 1951. Since, we have expanded the property to include an A Frame structure which houses 6 units. We also have two outdoor covered sitting area's with a grill for guest use.We are a family-owned business in our 72nd year of operation and prefer the personal touch! We wanted to stay a couple of nights and check out Fort Ticonderoga. The Stone House was overall a pleasant enough place, and the price was right.

We stayed as a group in three rooms. The consensus was between good and very good, and I am giving them the benefit of the doubt here. As another reviewer mentioned, we did not get exactly the rooms we requested, but the staff accommodated us so we were satisfied. One person had an issue about the cleanliness of the bathroom, but apparently resolved it herself within one minute, and didn't bother the staff with it. This is an older motel, and therefore I am comparing it to other older motels I've visited, and this is better than most. It was a non smoking room, and I didn't smell smoke. Some of us had a full kitchen, so we congregated there and shared some meals. None of us found the coffee; if it was there, we didn't see it. (We did see the coffee pot.) This didn't bother us much. There was fast wifi. We loved a restaurant just across the road, and most of us ate there at least one meal a day. The location is excellent on what is essentially the Main Street; close to a circle which is a good landmark. We had no trouble flushing the toilets, (like another reviewer here did) because we are used to older plumbing! It takes an extra few seconds with the handle depressed. Of course, if you want to spend more and go to a chain hotel, where everything has been updated, you are allowed. Our group was very happy with this motel, and we used the saved money to visit Fort Ticonderoga and have some good meals out. We recommend this motel and would go back.

This is an older motel right near the circle on Montcalm. Its exterior is very attractive; looks like an English Tudor. It appears to be a family run business with a local family. They accommodated our group well. The rooms are in two separate buildings. The price is right. There is no breakfast available. However, you are right across the street from the Hot Biscuit Diner, which is a full service restaurant we all enjoyed. Our group occupied several rooms, and almost everyone thought it was a good choice. One of the rooms had a full kitchen. Another had a microwave and a small fridge. The furniture and carpet is also older, but seemed okay to me. The bed was comfortable and there is free wifi. There were coffee pots, and sugar and cups, but no coffee. So bring your own if you have to have a cup in the morning.

Visited Ticonderoga to see the Fort, which was great. Hotel was easy to find on the main street of the town. Staff was friendly. Rooms were reasonably comfortable.

Just stayed there and the price was right. Not the most fancy place I ever stayed in but a good clean room with maid service right in town. I would stay there again.

We spent the night while on a driving vacation of the northeast. We found our room to be clean and spacious even if the decorating scheme was somewhat odd. It is in a good location and the rates were resonable, we especially appreciated the on site laundry
