Great specials and offerings, though quite expensive compared to other similar local offerings!

This sophisticated cafe-style wine bar has fabulous food in addition to the great wine and cheese offerings. We did not know anything about the place when we decided to walk in while out shopping in the Woodlands Market Place shopping area with my wife and kids. It was my wife's birthday and I really wanted something special even though she insisted that we not make a big deal about her birthday this year (hence the lack of a good plan ahead of time).



Part of the restaurant is outside and there is basically no wall separating the outside from the inside so even though you are sitting inside you still feel like you are outside because it is open to the outside. This gives it the feeling of an open-air cafe but even if it is raining (it was) you have great atmosphere. A slight drizzle during our entire meal made for an incredible cozy - but dry - feel to the place.



The appetizers are very sophisticated, with several cheese flights that offer different combinations of cheese, as well as other items. We had filet mignon, sea bass, and pork chops for our entrees. My wife is very particular about her steak, and when it came out slightly more than rare, it was immediately replaced with a truly rare steak that made her mouth water. They have a number of other eclectic offerings. This is a $$$ restaurant but not $$$$. The four of us ate for under $150 including wine. Houston has outstanding restaurants so it is very competitive. CRU rates right up there with the best. This was one of the best birthday dinners we have ever had, and we have had some nice ones.
