My 7 year old son wanted to train in jiu jitsu. After I looked around for gyms, I recognized the Machado name and gave this place a try. It was a wonderful decision. The instructors are excellent both in the technique they teach and in how they teach them - which is rare. The environment is disciplined but still playful. There are a lot of students which gives my son a chance to spar against a large number of opponents which only adds to his knowledge. We are about to move, but we will drive the extra distance to stay at this gym. If you are interested in jiu jitsu - whether young or old - I highly recommend you check out this place. It is one of those rare places that maintains the balance of being a friendly environment while still providing serious training.

I drive from Shreveport, LA to train with Mr. Thompson. I trained year round in olympic taekwondo from 1990 thru 2003. After that I wanted to see what all the fuss was about jiu jitsu. So from 2004 thru 2010 I tried clubs here in north Louisiana and was disappointed in tough guy acts without the skill. In fall of 2010 I decided to look farther away and found Machado Jiu-jitsu. I was so pleased to find #1 instructors, #1 curriculum, #1 knowledge, #1 club. Clean facility, humble instructors, attracts top students to workout with. In only 4 months and just a few private lessons with Mr. Thompson I am doing as well as students with years experience at other clubs. I drive over 200 miles each way, if you live closer then you are fortunate and I hope we can roll some day.
