I want to warn everyone of the irrational, unprofessional and unethical behavior of Mr. Dobie that I experienced during one of the most difficult periods of my life.
I originally contacted Mr Dobie after the death of my brother, for services by his funeral home. Mr. Dobie and I had a pleasant conversation that first day. I secured his services with my credit card at that time.
I later learned of a program by the county to assist individuals with cremation. I contacted the county regarding this to gather information. I immediately called Mr. Dobie back to inform him of our decision to seek county assistance. Mr Dobie said he would credit my card once we received the approval and I assumed he would not be retrieving my brothers body at that point.
Once we did get the approval, I called Mr. Dobie back so that he could credit my card. He stated he would and said he would transport the body to the appropriate facility. I was confused by his comment and asked him why he had the body, my concern being that he had the correct body and we were talking about the same one. Mr Dobie became very defensive and began screaming at me at the highest level his voice could obtain I'm sure. I have never been yelled at in such a manner in my life. I tried to ask him why he was yelling at me for asking the question but he continued to rant,""WE HAVE DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE FOR YOU PEOPLE. I AM DOING A FUNERAL FOR A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL RIGHT NOW, I DON'T NEED TO PUT UP WITH THIS. WE WOULDN'T HAVE THE BODY IF IT HAD NOT BEEN RELEASED TO US......."". This continued until I finally had to hang up on him since I could take another second of this cruel behavior. I filed complaints but Mr. Dobie insists on lying, stating that I had gotten snippy with him first. I work in a very small office, which is where I was during our conversation and no one heard me become ""enraged"" as Mr. Dobie claims.
To make matter much worse, he then called my mother, who is greiving the loss of her son, to report the incident to her. WHY?
I don't understand Mr. Dobies behavior but I do want to make every attempt to protect others from this experience during such an already traumatic time in their lives. Use another funeral home...please. I am required to rate at least one star, otherwise I would not give this funeral home any stars.
