Today is Friday December 30th. When I look you up online it says that you're open from 9 to 5 and when I called the store it says we are currently on the line assisting other customers then it also says that you are open from 9 to 5 today. It's an hour and 45 minute drive one way so I drove all the way to the store just to see that they are closed. So with traffic today I'm wasting almost 4 hours because somebody didn't update that they were not open today

Wanted to relay the experience I had this week dealing with T. A. Mahoneys. Took my boat and trailer in there on 10/30/13 around 2pm. Met Brett and he came out to take a look at my boat and trailer and we discussed what I wanted to do on the trailer and boat. For the trailer, I decided to get new trailer lights and harness, new bunks, u-bolts, nuts, hubs, and bearing buddys. For the boat, I needed to get a new bilge pump, a scupper fitting and a new SS prop. I also talked with him about removing the motor and re-sealing the motor bolt holes with 5200 because I have a leak somewhere, but apparently he didn’t write that down cause it wasn’t on the written quote



He was taking down what I wanted to do and giving me verbal prices on each item. I asked him for a quote on parts and labor for the job. He started to add up numbers and saying them out loud. He quickly got to $500 and then jumped to $750 and then the final number he told me was $1500. We discussed it for a while and he felt I was putting him on the spot. I was there to get an accurate quote. Then he told me he was kind of rushing because he wanted to get to lunch. I asked to please go over these figures again. Finally, he started to write stuff down with prices. Got to around $500 for parts, hesitated and then told me around $1,000. This is a lot different than $1500.



I said ok let’s do it. He said he would call me in two days with a final quote. The afternoon of 11/1 (two days later) came around and no word. I called and he returned my call two hours later. He said that the estimate of around $1500 was about right. I advised him that I could not afford that and that the $1000 estimate seemed more reasonable. I said I was on my way to pick up the boat.



When I got there, he gave me the estimate on paper. They hooked up my boat, which was now filthy with dirt, leaves and other markings that weren’t there before. Got back to the house and reviewed the estimate. Below is what I was verbally quoted when I was there compared to what is on the paper quote. Prices given to me verbally were definitely different than what they actually turned out to be. There certainly seemed to be some bait-n-switch going on at this place.

For these three items to be installed I was going to be charged 3.5 hours of labor at $90/hr for a total of $315. There is no way it would take this long. He said originally it would be an hour for the bilge. So 2 ½ hrs to replace the scupper fitting and to put on a new prop?!



Now for the trailer. Some items he just didn’t give me a price or was talking so fast, I just couldn’t keep up. This is the only one I remember.



New hubs - $50 ($25 apiece) New hubs - $79.98 for both



To change the lights, bunks/brackets/bolts/nuts and install bearing buddys I was being charged 4.5 hours of labor at $75.00, which totals $337.50.



The verbal quotes went from $1500 to $1000 to a written quote of over $1426. Needless to say they will not get any business from me for repairs for my boat or trailer.
