He earned a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1973, where he was a member of the National Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Honor Society, and he completed several tax law courses in the graduate tax program at Georgetown University Law School in 1974 and 1975 while working as a Senior Staff Attorney at the SEC.
