ABOUT DANCE FOR POWER Dance for Power is a not-for-profit organization that presents world-class touring attractions in dance, music and theater. These attractions are artistically diverse in their content, family-oriented and appealing to a broad patron base. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Elly Pardo, its Executive Director, Dance for Power relocated its office from Oakland to Stockton in the fall of 2003. For the past several years, the organization has taken great pride in bringing exceptional talent to the Central Valley first at the lovely Warren Atherton Auditorium at San Joaquin Delta College and now at the beautiful Bob Hope Theatre, the host of its Grand Performances Stockton-World Tour Series. A member of California Presenters, the Western Arts Alliance, and the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, Dance for Power takes pride in featuring an artistic line-up in its theatrical attractions that includes professional touring companies of the highest caliber. Besides performances for the general public at the Bob Hope Theatre, Dance for Power also presents a Multicultural Performing Arts Series for student audiences at the same venue. Serving youth in grades K-12, the series consists of weekday matinees, which are one-hour, condensed versions of full productions. These matinees are supported by online Study Guides that provide teachers and students with background information on the artistic and cultural content of a given performance.
