Completed in 1870 The Washington County Historic Courthouse served as the administrative and judicial center of the county for more than a century. In 1971, the Historic Courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places as the oldest standing courthouse in Minnesota. In 1975, official business moved to the new government center and a new vision for this architectural gem was developed which included history-related exhibits and activities. Today, FREE guided public tours are offered Monday through Saturday and include the historic courtroom, exhibit rooms and old 1900 county jail. On a tour, your guide will lead you through some important historic moments in Washington County history while touring the historic courtroom, 1900's County Jail, and exhibit spaces. Donations are accepted.
