The department of communication is a part of the University of Wisconsin- Madison. The department focuses on the research and study of communication. It offers a range of graduate courses in the areas of communication science, film, media and cultural studies and rhetoric. The department of communication enrolls more than 10,000 students annually. It also provides educational opportunities to study the historical, theoretical and cultural uses and production practices of radio, television and film.
