- Primary CareIn 1962 Dr. William Kappes began his solo pediatric practice in Waynesboro, calling it Pediatric Associates of Waynesboro, eventually changing the name to Waynesboro Pediatrics. In 1977 Dr. George Sproul established his pediatric practice in Staunton, eventually calling it Blue Ridge Pediatrics. Over the years both practices grew and new physicians joined the groups as the practices evolved. For some time in the late 1990's and early 2000's both practices became a part of the UVA Regional Primary Care network of practices. During that time the practices began a closer relationship, and began to share call responsibilities. Ultimately each practice left UVA, returning to privately owned practices, but maintaining the relationship of sharing call with each other. In 2011 the doctors of both groups chose to join forces, becoming Valley Pediatric Group.
