The person you are referencing is my father and your experience is the exception rather than the rule as you can see by the other reviews. As he has recently passed, I cannot ask him about the incident and I do apologize for the rude treatment. Due to the fact that we have to pay a minimum amount for the debit/credit machine purchases he set that limit and we still adhere to it. That is not unusual for businesses. This store is such a great find! They have everything you could dream of for cake decorating. They are a little pricy on a few items but it is a specialty shop so I expected it. I don't what I would have done if I hadn't found this store! The lady is very helpful and nice as well

I love Mae's, they always have what I need. I live in Decatur and they have always been accomadating when I drive in the last minute to grab what I need. I have loved the customer service.

This place has everything you need to decorate cakes, cookie and candy. However, every time I have been in this establishment I have experience very unfriendly customer service. The same person was in there each time. He told me he would not accept any debit or credit cards for purchases under $5 and was very rude about it shaking his head and handing me my card back sarcastically. When asked about cake decorating classes, no information was provided other than "Yeah, we do those." Also, during my first visit, I was taking my time deciding which items to buy when I was repeatedly asked by this person "Have you found anything yet?" - as if I was bothering him by being in there. After that, I decided that I'd rather buy online for these hard to find items. Paying shipping costs is a small price to pay compared to being treated as a "nuisance" in a business establishment. I also saw this person be rude to another customer while in the store. It was not a good experience.
