- GynecologyDr. Jorge L. Gomez earned his Medical Degree in 1990 at Central Del Caribe University in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Following residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital center in the Bronx, NY (1990–1994), he completed additional fellowship training at New York University Medical Center NY, specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine (1994-1996). After his fellowship in 1996 he joined South Florida Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Gomez is Board certified in OBGYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine. From 2003 – 2007 He was a reviewer for the American Journal Of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- ObstetricsJessica Belalcazar, APRN is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She was born in Colombia and raised in Miami since the age of 5. After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Science of Nursing from Nova Southeastern University, she dedicated the next 5 years developing her skills at Jackson Memorial Hospital as a high risk obstetrics nurse. Her passion for women’s health drove her to obtain her master’s degree from Florida International University in 2018.
- PregnancyDr. Lai has been published widely in peer review journals, books/chapters and has done several presentations throughout the years in OB/GYN and high-risk pregnancy. He is a recipient of the George Paff faculty teaching award at U Miami medical school and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor medical society.

It is important to note that neither Chorionic villus sampling nor amniocentesis is able to test for birth defects that do not have a known cause. - Diabetes CareConsult a perinatologist: A perinatologist (also known as maternal-fetal medicine specialist) is trained to care for high risk pregnancies. In addition to four years of residency training in obstetrics and gynecology, he/she will have received education in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders found in mother and fetus. Some services provided by a perinatologist include diabetes care, management of multiple gestations, level II ultrasound of the fetus, chorionic villus sampling, genetic amniocentesis, and in some centers, fetal surgery or treatment. This specialist will work with your other doctors, nurses, and health care professionals to ensure the best possible outcome for you and your baby.
