- Comprehensive ExaminationAt Telford Veterinary Hospital in Souderton, PA, we believe regular checkups and annual wellness exams are critical to your pets’ well-being. - Pain ManagementAnything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don’t whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.

- Arthritis TreatmentAcupuncture has been shown to help pets with pain, osteoarthritis, vomiting, cancer pain, endocrine disorders, and much more. It helps pets even more than you and I might realize so be sure to discuss your pet’s case with your veterinarian to see whether or not acupuncture might be helpful! You may want to consider adding acupuncture to keep your pet as active and healthy as possible.
- Thyroid Disease TreatmentNot only do wellness exams keep us up-to-date with your pets’ health, but they also allow us to detect potential problems before they become serious, and therefore have the potential to save you money in the long run. Supportive care and treatments are much costlier the longer a condition or disease progresses and goes untreated. For example, if a cat is urinating more frequently and is excessively thirsty, yet these symptoms aren’t evaluated in a timely manner, this could lead to a late diagnosis of kidney disease or hyperthyroidism—something that could have been caught and treated sooner. While these conditions would be treatable, the extent of the medications and treatment could be minimized with early intervention. Additionally, it’s important to remember that dogs age differently than humans; if you skip one annual exam, it’s comparable to missing a check-up for
- Heart Disease TreatmentDental disease is more than just bad breath and discolored teeth! It can cause many health issues, including heart disease, liver problems, and kidney disease.
- Kidney Disease TreatmentCold laser therapy is a state-of-the-art alternative therapy to assist with pain and healing. It can be used after surgeries to help increase blood flow to local areas, improving healing. For this same reason, it is also helpful for wound healing. Cold laser therapy can also be used for chronic pain, helping to increase blood flow to those areas. We have also seen great success in using this therapy for patients with kidney failure.

- Laboratory ServicesWe utilize in-house blood testing before surgery, which we will go over with you when you bring your pet in. Our doctors prefer a more comprehensive screen, because it gives them the most information to ensure the safety of your pet. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests, electrocardiograms, or x-rays may be required before surgery as well.
