Do they actually sell cars?

So I see a car on Craigslist that I'm interested in and inquire as to its availability. The guy, via email, says $9888 firm. That's fine I say but it's $2k more than it's worth based on Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds, would you be willing to talk about coming down. No, he says. OK, that's fine. Fastforward 6 MONTHS later, yes 6 months. I notice that the car is still listed with the same price (and the same misspelling in the listing). So I email the guy again and say, listen man, I'll buy this truck at a fair price. He tells me it sold that day on a walk-in for $10k. So at this point I'm like wow that's some good luck. A week later they list it again on Craigslist, same price, same misspellings. So I go to the lot at 9:30 (when they're supposed to be open). The guy cleaning the cars tells me the salesman won't be in until 10 so I hang out. He doesn't show up until 10:30. I ask about the car, he says he can't sell it for less than $9888 because he almost paid that much at auction. If that's true they must be the worst auto brokers in the world much less Somerville. So I go home and send them an email through their Website recapping my reasons for not thinking it is worth that much i.e. it has very high miles and will need new brakes soon not to mention the fact that those vehicles are just not selling for that amount. No response. That was three days ago. I wonder if the whole car-sales thing is even what they're really in business for. Makes you wonder when they have a vehicle buried at the back of the lot that the sales guy admitted nobody even asks about and they're not interested in moving it.
