The Minnehaha County Jail is a full-service detention facility that house pretrial detainees and convicted criminals by municipal, state and federal courts both for the county and several of the surrounding counties as provided by contract. It supports a variety of community and work release programs. The jail works under the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office, which is a law enforcement agency that preserves peace and detects and prevents crime. The sheriff s office also provides services for protection of residents and their properties. The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office pursues felons and executes writs, warrants and other process issues from courts. The Minnehaha County Jail is located in Sioux Falls, S.D.
