Community Interpreter Service provides cultural and language communication solutions. It serves several community service providers, employers, hospitals, schools and law enforcement agencies. The division offers on-site interpretation, message relay, and telephone and conference calling solutions. Community Interpreter Service also translates legal documentation, employee handbooks and employee notices. It interprets more than 35 languages, such as German, Italian, Russian, Vietnamese and Spanish. The division is a part of Lutheran Social Services, which is one of the largest, nonprofit social service agencies in South Dakota. Also known as LSS, the agency provides residential care solutions for children and youths. In addition, it offers independent living skills development, financial, housing, foster care and pregnancy counseling services.
