      General Info
      The Department of Information Technology is one of the service divisions operated by the city government of Seattle. The department manages the city s information technology infrastructure and performs strategic IT planning. It coordinates strategic technology issues for the city, and develops common standards, architecture and business solutions to improve city services. The department also builds and operates the city s corporate communications and computing assets that include the telephone, radio and e-mail systems, networks and servers. It supervises the development of Democracy Portal, which is a project to improve the city government s access television station and its accompanying Web site. The department manages the project by providing new programming, live Web streaming of city council s meetings, live Web casting and interactive services for citizens to access government information.
