- Dental Examination
- X-raysThere is very little risk in dental X-rays. Pediatric dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which children are exposed. Digital radiographs and lead aprons are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation.
- Teeth Cleaning
- Fluoride Treatment
- Dental SealantsTooth decay often occurs on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. The good news is that sealants can help protect these surfaces from tooth decay and improve your chances to stay filling-free.
- Fillings
- CrownsRecover the tooth, making sure to hold it by the crown (top) and not the root end. Rinse, but do not clean or handle the tooth more than necessary. Reinsert the tooth in the socket and hold it in place using a clean piece of gauze or cloth. If the tooth cannot be reinserted, carry it in a cup containing milk or saliva, not water. Because time is essential, please call the office.
- Restorative DentistryA pediatric dentist, like Dr. McCoy, Dr. Lawson, and Dr. Christine are practitioners who, after becoming a general dentist (often called a family dentist), has completed at least an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of children’s dental services. Specialty education includes child psychology, behavior guidance, preventive techniques, pediatric sedation, hospital dentistry, restorative dentistry, and the treatment of children with special needs. Our doctors have gone beyond the requirements of a Pediatric Dental Specialist, becoming credentialed by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and all have hospital privileges at Maine Medical Center for advanced treatment needs.
- Oral Surgery“I always get a charge out of talking scared kids through treatment,” says Dr. Mike. “That’s how I knew I needed to be a Pediatric Dentist.” Dr. Mike also loves the variety of his job: operating room treatment, sedation dentistry, minor oral surgery, laser dentistry, and orthodontics, for example.
- Orthodontics
- BracesThe doctors are funny and explain exactly what they are doing/planning to do. They tells you exactly how long you will have your braces on unless the plans change. I would totally recommend Just for Kids!
