Tasty Fusion

My boyfriend and I decided to try Ta Ca at the suggestion of a friend.

We got there a little more than a half hour before closing. (Thank goodness they're open 'til 10:30 since we're both night owls!) It wasn't crowded, just a couple of tables finishing their meals. We were the last table there. The staff never made us feel rushed and our waitress was very kind and attentive, even while she was taking care of some of her closing duties!

The staff let us sit and chat while they joked with each other as they prepared the restaurant to close. They answered our questions about the local art they displayed: a gorgeous collection of sea creatures made from found objects. It was really nice to see a staff that got along so well and it made the atmosphere that much more enjoyable. Of course, the staff made sure to keep their playfulness in check until the customers were taken care of.

As for the food, for an appetizer, we shared the spicy tuna and avocado - extra mild. It was perfect, with just the slightest zing. For the main course, I ordered the shrimp and salmon hibachi and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp and scallop. Both can best be described as hearty and savory.

We were pleasantly surprised to get both a soup and salad with our meals! The onion soup was comforting, and I found I like it more than miso soup. The ginger dressing on the salad was very refreshing.

The portions are generous and we ended up taking a lot home to enjoy a second and third time.

The atmosphere overall was warm and relaxed. The lighting set a very nice, intimate mood. The lights highlighting the artwork against the orange walls showcased it in a way that it seemed like it was specifically designed for a sushi restaurant.

We will definitely visit again!
