I went to Love's 40 years ago when it was not much more than a little ""hole in the wall"" and am still going today. As a native Savannian, and one who has been to almost every restaurant in our lovely city, I think Love's has the very best seafood anywhere. The food and service is consistently great. I have sent many of my out of town business associates there and they all go back every time they come in town. My children who are now grown and living elsewhere, always like to go to Love's when they come to Savannah. We had a ""going off to college"" party there for my son and have also enjoyed many great family gatherings there over the years. Not many restaurants have been around as long as they have, experienced growth, and retained their great reputation. It's the greatest in my book! I love Love's.

we have been going to love's for years every time we go to Savannah. We usually go twice during the week we are there. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family. The food is wonderful and the views of the river and sunset georgeous.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. For starters, our waitress could not tell the difference between a Blanc and a Cabernet. Even though she was a new waitress I thought, being a waitress myself, she should still have had some idea about the drinks she was serving. We were very polite and patient with her when we told her the wine was wrong, but when she returned she expressed to us how upset the bartender was about the drink order and having to change it. We were not asked if we would like to order an appetizer nor did she tell she tell us, even though she obviously knew, that it would be a long wait because the kitchen staff was behind so we ordered our entrees right away. After about an hour the waitress began gossiping with us about the kitchen staff and explained that our food was taking so long because they did not like her. We then after asked to speak to a manager who also gossiped about how the waitress was responsible because she forgot to put our order in and how the cooks were not at fault. We were served one more round of drinks, in which the waitress insisted we tell her what the manager had to say about her and the situation. We received our food almost 2 hours after being sat. As we were walking out I saw 3 waitresses hanging around the bar and heard several other tables discussing and complaining about the bad service. I could not honestly point a finger at the waitress, the cooks, or the manager. But I can honestly say that it was the worst service I have ever received, I will never eat there again nor will I recommend it to anyone.

Ordered carryout this past weekend. The food was O.K. I actually liked the seasoning on the fish. However, they forgot ALL of our coleslaw and when I called to complain, I was told they were ""sorry"" and next time I came in, I would get a free coleslaw. We ordered catfish for 3 of the plates. I don't know what kind of fish was on 2 of the plates, but it wasn't catfish. I'm from Southwestern Georgia, grew up catching and eating catfish all my life and ""that weren't catfish!"" We compared it with the 3rd catfish plate and it was NOT the same. Since I live 4 1/2 hours away, I doubt I'll be back. Spent almost $100 for this carryout food and would expect the service to be better. Two of the plastic carryout plates were actually melted which made me worry about the chemicals that were released into the food and the missing coleslaw was the icing on the cake! Won't be back next time we visit Savannah.

Last time I ate at Loves I ordered the scored flounder and when I got my food the plate was huge! It was prepared perfectly and it was delicious! My husband and I got a bottle of wine to go with our dinner and they have a wonderful wine list with many different wines to choose from. Our server Amanda was so sweet and attentive. We will definitely be back and I would recommend Loves to everyone.

-overall the food was so so to very poor. Both the main dishes and the sides were not good. The steamed veggies we had looked like they should have been in the garbage.....brown with terrible taste...what happened to fresh food here???? For what we had and the big $$$$ it cost I would have been just as satisfied at McD's. 2 out of the 4 times we have been there its been very poor. ....doubt I will be going back.

Thursday June 30 2011 on our way from NC to Fl we stopped in Savanna and ate dinner at Loves seafood. We both had the scored flounder and shared the calamari. Perfectly cooked and presented. Our waitress Ellen served us at the leisurely pace we requested. We were seated in the veranda overlooking the river. We will return next time we are in Savanna.
Every time I drive by Loves Seafood there are always so many cars so I decided to try it last night. I was sat quickly and my server waited on me right away. The restaurant was very clean and had an amazing view of the Ogeechee River. I loved the scored flounder and the chocolate lava cake was to die for.

Wow, I can not believe the reviews. Loves, you need to get your act together or do you not care? I have gone to you many times and NEVER had it like it was this time. But reading what others have said, i can see you do have a problem.
We always eat outside and have had no problems, but this time everything was off, down to the food, servers and management.
I love your crab balls, best in town, but they are NOT WORTH IT , if I have to have bad service and food. I guess you are making enough from those long lines of ONE TIME VISITS.

I am a local of Savannah and go to love's seafood quite often. Love's has a great atmosphere and view of the Ogeechee river. Meanwhile the food is exceptional, the cleanliness of the building meets my high standards, and the service is great. Sometimes you do have to wait a while for your food, but the great view and friendly atmosphere makes up for that. I highly recommend this resturaunt to everyone with a taste for seafood and steaks wether local or visiting.

We live in Richmond Hill and eat @ Love's from time to time. It's a bit pricey to eat very often as a local, but when we do, we're not usually disappointed. My favorite items (I usually end up w/ the same thing every time) is the whole fried catfish ""all you can eat"" and the spinach side (you'll be surprised, it's very good). Although the catfish will have a somewhat muddy flavor sometimes (depends on where the fish came from I here), they're always cooked to perfection. If you're in the area, I'd also recommend Sunbury Crab Company. Geat location, just sit back and pick crabs before dinner.

Visiting from Wisconsin we thought we would try the seafood at Love's. By far this is the WORST restaurant we have ever been to. The service was awful, and the food beyond terrible. 45 minutes after placing our order the waitress came to tell us they were out of the catfish which 3 of us ordered. This shoud of been our clue to leave. We then re-ordered and the food came 40 minutes later. God awful. Was the worst crab stuffed shrimp you could ever imagine and it was soaking in some kind of liquid, soup? $92.00 for 4 people. We may as well of thrown a hundred dollar bill out the window. Crab cakes? They do NOT know how to cook.

I would not recommend this place to a friend. We arrived at 7pm on Tuesday and were promptly seated. It went downhill from there. We placed our order and then waited about an hour for our food. Our dinner came before our salads, We watched as table after table of upset customers left the restaurant without even getting their dinners. When the table next to us asked to speak to the manager,I expected to see someone from the Love family as they really play the family involvement thing up in the menu. The person who came was not an owner and said he was working in the kitchen to help out. My previous experience with this restaurant was about 15 years ago, when it was smaller and people stood in line. At that time it was worth the wait. Now I doubt that I will come back again. Our bill was over 42 dollars for my wife and I,plus what we tipped our waitress,as it wasn't her fault. Dr.Elliot Palefsky
