++++FINISHING MY STORY!!!!++++

Decided to go back to feathered friends & let them know what happened, from what I knew. From the moment I got there, I was dismissed by the woman even tho there was no one else in the store. Finally, she asked how she could help & told her, what had happened. She then unwrapped the box, opened it & pulled out the bird without consideration & "examined" it. Then immediately started saying in an accusing tone, "It's neck it broken" I then told her "I don't understand how that could be, I did find her at the bottom tho..like I said" she then said, "Well it's neck is broken & we don't refund or replace birds anyways" I started to ask if there was any solution & she dismissed me & called for help to "verify" that the birds neck was "broken" the man that came to "verify" was rude as well & immediately agreed when the lady started talking, that the birds neck was "indeed broken" as if trained to agree with anything. Then he asked, "is that all you needed me for??" She said "yep" then told me, "you can get another one, if you want" & I told her, "No, at this time..I don't think I would like too..& I also don't have the funds right now" she then said, "Sorry about that kid, do you want I should keep it or do you wanna bury it" I told her "It's ok. You can go ahead & keep it, I have no where to bury the bird without lurking cats in the neighborhood digging it up or construction ruining it's resting place..she then said "Okay, sorry again..thanks!" & that was it..I got turned away, lost out on time, money & a bird. I am not only upset about this whole ordeal, but a little outraged about the treatment & not only that but being turned away, without them giving any type of support or help. I mean, hell..even corporate has a 14 day or 30 (something along the lines) return on an animal that is, dying, diseased or deceased. I will say this last thing about "feathered friends"; they are not your friends, they just leave you with feather's. I WILL NOT be returning & any chance I get, I will tell my story in hopes of opening peoples eyes about sketch places like this, locally. Do your homework as said folks!

I loved Feathered Friends of Santa Fe when they were on St. Francis Drive and continue to love them as they have transitioned to an online store. Their prices are now better than ever and I get the same excellent service when I pick up the food at their drop-off location or when I have them ship it to me. I highly recommend them.

Just bought a beautiful little Sun Conure, hand raised & fed. A great expierence with super knowledgeable, dedicated owners. I read a couple reviews that were obviously written by whackos!! Some guy`s bird apparently bit him & he bounced it off the wall & broke it`s neck. The kind of person that should not have pets or write reviews!!! All he could say was amp; amp; amp. Pretty creative. Get a life dude! Darlene & her husband were really nice & very helpful. Thanks again Darlene. AW See ya soon.

This place is amazing. The owners are friendly and extremely knowledgeable, and the parrots are all healthy, happy and much loved. They have a wide selection of bird products as well. Definitely recommend this place.

This place is a real jewel. I love how knowledgeable and friendly Darlene and Kurt are! We got several birds from them and they are happy and healthy. I love visiting over there... great location, and lots of cool toys.

I have bought birds with them before, thinking they would be 10x better than a corporate business! Come to find out, they are crappier than Walmart's customer service & that say's something..because Walmart don't even answer their phones & if they do, they put you on hold & forget about you. Like I said, I have bought birds from them before, every single one died within the first month. At first I thought it was just me, possibly not having enough experience? So I went back, told them & was given a excuse that "Some bird's just do not display any signs & sudden die; but we're sorry there is nothing we can do..we don't replace birds" I was saddened to hear this & they "cut me a break" by telling me I could buy another bird from them "half off" what a real steal that was. I ended up getting two birds, one half off, the other full price, a new cage & some crap. Within a week, those birds died. I had my suspicions, but again dismissed it & decided maybe this just was not the time for a "feathered friend". Now, As a "returning" customer, I thought..hey! Why not give it another chance, I love supporting my locale business's & I really want an addition to my birds I bought from other sources (Craigslist & Petsmart)! So I went in, picked out a lovely bird. Came straight home. Prepared an extra cage, so I could introduce slow before putting the new one in the "community" cage as not to scare the new bird or if the bird was ill for whatever reason, there would be safety for all the others, so they do not get sick. By now, my experience with birds is not expert but I feel I am no longer a novice. Long story short, I prepared the cage & the bird died without warning, or cause by anything I am aware of. 4000 char's cuts my story. Sorry.

If I could give this business no star & call it a rating, I would. This place give's "local business's" a bad reputation. It is very overpriced & tacky. The things you find in this store, that are actually considered "quality" you can get cheaper from a corporate store like Petco or Petsmart. Hell, you'd even be better ordering offline. This place is so grunge & rundown, everything is missing paint! Not just some of the birds cages, which by the way is BAD for ALL BIRDS to ingest. Everything in this store is CLUTTERED, from small a-- cages to little to no floor space to walk around. Everything is so piled up from the moment you walk in, you can't even see the sales counter. They don't have much of a toy selection, if any. Heck, they really don't have a selection..just crap. As stated earlier anything that is deemed worthy, you can get much cheaper else where. The cage's are marked up to the heaven's, not just piled..but this business does so crappy; they will do anything for a sale & that include's offering you the cage cheap, but they will TRY to profit elsewhere by trying to sell you a bird or accessories! That's where they get you. Beware people, do your homework. Don't trust people's reviews because they say something about being 200% sure & badmouth another which leave's one confused, look for yourself. Go in, talk to these people. They agree with anything you ask, or really say about the birds or things as long as it's aimed at a possible sale. & they look so high out of their damn minds it's not even funny, but rather scary. I can't imagine how they have stayed in business so long, with all the hazards around & their attitude's (if not making a sale). Even their website looks cleaner than their counter. I wouldn't seek advice, or buy again from these people if they were the last hope for humanity. I wish you all luck.

I so HIGHLY recommend Feathered Friends to all, for all of your bird needs!! They have a A#1 rating!!!



I don't know what idiot previously reveiwed them, and gave Feathered Friends such a bad rating before, but nothing can be further from the truth! I can only say that when I visited there, nothing could have been more than perfect, in all areas! I walked into a store that was very well organized and clean. ALL of the birds were completely happy, and their cages and food dishes were completely clean, there was absolutely NOTHING, what so ever, that what was described by that former, NEGATIVE "rater". (As I said before, a total IDIOT). So, please ignore THAT rating, and accept mine instead! Mine is 200% POSITIVE!! I had a wonderful experience at Feathered Friends, and I HIGHLY recommend them to ALL of my friends! ♥



My experience was one of total joy! The birds were all wonderful, well integrated and happily adjusted. Well, I totally fell in love with Clarence, their beautiful Hyancinth, but then, who wouldn't.... He really is God's gift to Earth... Such a special "little" man. ♥)

First off, the owners of this store are VERY nice people. They were friendly, and took the time to show me around.



There is a huge selection of toys for birds at reasonable prices.



The bad thing about this store, and the most important thing I think, is the condition of the birds cages & play area.



Many of the birds are kept in cages MUCH too small for the type of bird they are. Several of the cages were rusty, or had paint pealing off the bars, which are both really bad for a parrot if ingested. But the worst thing about the way they keep their birds is the utter lack of toys in the bird's cages. Their store front is FULL of toys for sale - why not give the birds something to play with? Most cages had one toy in them. But that one toy looked old, and worn-out, signaling to me that they had not been rotated out too often. Parrots need a wide variety of stimuli to keep them mentally happy and physically healthy. Multiple toys, rotated out at least weekly or bi-weekly, would do the trick.



Also, the condition of several of the birds feathers looked quite rough. It looked like they were all in need of a bath or at least a more regular spray.



Like I said, the owners were so nice, I feel bad writing a bad review, but if they were to change their practices in there, I would totally support their shop.
