      Patients at Golden Gate Cancer Center know they can take control of their cancer treatment at the radiation oncology practice in the SoMa (South of Market) neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Led by David Kornguth, MD, the chief of radiation oncology, the medical team and staff emphasize a patient-first philosophy based on respect and compassion, so patients make individualized choices regarding their health care and treatment. Golden Gate Cancer Center boasts above-average success rates thanks to its multidisciplinary approach for diagnosis, treatment, and coordinated care from the team of urologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, and pathologists. Doctors and patients collaborate on treatment decisions, and those treatments are administered in a caring environment. Dr. Kornguth spends time with each patient, educating and recommending evidence-based treatments, while incorporating alternative and complementary medicine approaches for a non-conventional cancer treatment experience. Because an individual’s health depends on their state of mind, diet, and activity level, patients enjoy a relaxing environment during appointments, including use of a pool table in the center. The Golden Gate Cancer Center is fully equipped with technology and medical devices to provide a wide variety of radiotherapy and radiosurgery treatments, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). In addition, the center offers Varian Halcyon™ treatments, SpaceOAR™ Hydrogel, and brachytherapy with VariSeed, also from Varian.
