      General Info
      Ni-Cheng Liang, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist. She provides care for a variety of acute and chronic respiratory conditions, with a special focus on those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).COPD is currently the fourth leading cause of death in America, and predicted to be the third leading cause of death by 2020. Dr. Liang devotes much of her time in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COPD. Her multidisciplinary airway clinic is committed to educating patients with obstructive lung disease, and providing them with essential self-care and disease assessment tools. She is also interested in integrative medicine modalities such as yoga, and mindfulness based stress reduction for improving the lives of patients with lung diseases. Dr. Liang currently has an open clinical trial evaluating the effects of mindfulness based stress reduction for patients with COPD. She did her fellowship and residency training and served as chief medical resident at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Maryland, School of Medicine, and her bachelors degree from George Washington University in Washington D.C. She is board-certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease.Dr. Liang has received several awards over the years, including the UCSD Academy of Clinician Scholars Kaiser Teaching Award, Henry Christian Award from the American Federation for Medical Research, first place for best research poster from the American College of Physicians, and Intern of the Year from the department of medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. Liang is a published author, featured in publications such as Blood,Thrombosis Research, Current Womens Health Reviews and Journal of Investigative Medicine.
