Mita Shah, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist who specializes in the care and management of kidney transplant patients with a special interest in the management of immunosuppression to improve long-term graft survival. As an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Shah conducts research on the various parameters of the immune response in kidney transplant patients and has presented her research at national meetings. Her previous research studied kidney development and tissue engineering. She has published this work in leading journals such as Development and Developmental Biology.Dr. Shah completed a fellowship in nephrology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in internal medicine at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland.
