Danuta Trzebinska, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist with a special interest in chronic kidney disease. She is medical director of the https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/nephrology/Pages/chronic-kidney-disease.aspx at UC San Diego Health.In 2010, The Joint Commission awarded UC San Diego Healths Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic its Gold Seal of Approval for health care quality, making it the first program of its kind in the nation to receive this disease-specific certification. The clinic provides guideline-based, multidisciplinary care to patients with chronic kidney disease stages 2-5. The mission of the program is to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, streamline the transition to dialysis or transplantation, increase awareness of chronic kidney disease in the community, and increase scientific research in the area of chronic kidney disease.Dr. Trzebinska is also medical director of the state-of-the-art outpatient dialysis unit at UC San Diego Health, which provides chronic dialysis services. In addition, she is an attending physician on a busy inpatient nephrology service, on a monthly basis, and participates in patient care in a robust outpatient apheresis program.An associate professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Trzebinska has a passion for teaching and is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the nephrology program.Dr. Trzebinska completed her nephrology fellowship at UC San Diego School of Medicine and her residency in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital. She also earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She is board-certified in nephrology.Dr. Trzebinska was born and raised in Poland.
