Walzem Elementary School is a part of the North East Independent School District, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools. Founded in 1960, Walzem Elementary School serves more than 600 students in prekindergarten through grade five. Its staff includes teachers, teaching assistants, specialists, instructional coaches and office personnel. The school supports a variety of extracurricular programs in music, art and physical education. In addition, Walzem Elementary School conducts sessions in bilingual education and offers the English as a Second Language program. It provides medical care, speech pathology, and guidance and counseling services to students. Located in San Antonio, Walzem Elementary School has a library that provides access to a collection of online databases, magazines, newspapers and encyclopedias.
