Best Allergists in SATX. I was highly cat allergic but the indoor cats were my partners. Given the choice between me or the cats, my patner would choose the cats. Dr. Adrianne recommended allergy shots which have worked marvelously. I can now live in my own home without itchy watery eyes or nasal congestion and i need no medications. the Vaughn's are a great team. Highly recommended.
AA&A Associates is a well organized medical practice. Their web site allowed for reading their office policy and HIPAA forms at my leisure and I was able to download and print all the forms I was required to complete prior to my arrival for an appointment. Their office staff were very cordial. I felt the time allowed for each patient visit by my physician was exemplary. The time spent with me explaining the diagnosis made and the treatment planned was outstanding. This office is a gem.
Dr. Mike is WONDERFUL. I had been thinking that my daughter had allergies from the time she was 3 months old, only to find out via Dr. Mike that it was in reality a sinus infection (when she was 13 months old!) he also had no problem at all testing her for a total allergy panel and was very concientious about treating the CAUSE of her symptoms rather than JUST treating the symptoms to make her feel better! GREAT bedside manner, and GREAT doctor!

I am very happy with Alamo Asthma and Allergy. The office staff is very courteous, professional, and always greets me with a smile. Dr. Vaughn is friendly and thorough. At the end of the day, all this is nice but what makes a difference is if I feel better. I do. I have been a patient for the past 1-1/2 years. During this time my allergy symptoms have subsided substantially. I strongly recommed Alamo Asthma and Allergy.

I moved to San Antonio TX from the Midwest and became very ill. After my 3rd round of anitbotics my primary suggested I may want to be allergy tested. He referred me to Dr Vaughn. I had 25 things in SA that I was allergic to and needed shots. Dr Adrian Vaughn has turned my life around. Now after 3 years of me taking shots religiously, I tested negative to all but a few things and they were greatly reduced. Since starting shots I have not had sinus infections or bronchitis, even though my immune system is low. I am so glad to have found Dr Vaughn and really enjoy my visits to her. She is very engaging , funny, freindly, yet professional and knowlegable. I just love her. Maggie, the one that gives the shots, has become a friend of mine as I see her two times a week, every week. I am now going to be reducing my visits and injections and see how I do, but I am feeling a bit of a sense of loss and withdrawl as I will miss seeing everyone. I know they really helped me to survive here in TX . I highly recommend this group if you are in need of an Allergist. They are supreme! Just can not say enough great things about them. Word of advise, follow their treatment plan and be religious for the best results. It will pay off big time! They know what they are doing for the best results.

Our family has been going to the Vaughns for allergy treatment for several years now. It has made cedar season tolerable for the first time for those of us allergic. I had tried allergy shots as a child and therefore was skeptical that they would make much of a difference in my asthma symptoms. But I would say these are not your fathers allergy shots. They seem to be both more careful in terms of safety with precautionary medications and quite aggressive in getting the response needed to alleviate allergic response. My asthma symptoms are dramatically reduced from following their advice on the shots and on home allergen prevention. You do have to show up for the shots, but it is worth the effort to avoid misery. I strongly advise people who are miserable to seek out their advice. They are both wonderful. They will spend time with you and go over your specific needs. Every person who works there is friendly and kind every time we visit.

I brought my son Eli to see Dr. Mike 3 years ago. He is 8 now and has had asthma since age 2. He used to take multiple medications and used a nebulizer for his asthma controller medication (pulmicort) twice per day. When he was in kindergarten, his asthma prevented him from being outside during the spring. Every March his eyes would swell closed and his asthma would worsen. Dr. Mike found that his skin testing was severely positive to live Oak pollen and there were several Oak trees on Eli's school playground. Eli also had sensitivity to dog and dustmites. We had never observed any problems around our indoor dog burt after Dr. Vaughn suggested we keep the dog out of Eli's bedroom, his night-time asthma got much better. We also used dust mite covers for the pillows and mattress. Because Eli would be exposed to dog allergens when he was at his grandmother's home we requested allergy shots for Eli. After 3 years on allergy shots (given twice per month at Dr. mike's office) Eli's asthma is gone and he is off all of his medications. Dr. Mike and Dr. Adrianne are both great with kids.

I am an ER doctor in SATX. I first met Dr. Mike as a coworker in 1995. He is the only doctor I know of that is Board Certified to practice Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Allergy & Immunology. In addition, he has a PhD. in Immunology. I first sought his care for my Asthma and Allergy issues several years after he transitioned from ER medicine to full -time Allergy. My spouse has a cat she thinks is our second child (we have only one human child). The cat has the full run of the house and over the years, my allergic sensitivity had grown to the point that I was becoming miserable in my own home; with nasal congestion and wheezing after being in the home for as little as 30 minutes. When I gave my wife the ultimatum ""either the cat goes or I do"" she simply replied ""don't more too far away, long distance relationships don't seem to last."" It was then I realized I had to deal with the fact that I had to get allergy shots. Even though I am a physician, I feared the needle. Dr. Mike convinced me that poisoning the cat could get me into real trouble and that I had no other options. I began shots in 2007 and within 1 year of getting shots once every 2 weeks, I could live in my home without daily allegy and asthma medication use. I also noticed that my exercise induced asthma resolved as well. Prior to beginning allergy shots, I had 5-6 sinus infections per year. Dr.Mike checked my immune system to see if I was making antibodies to Strep. pneumonia, a bacteria responsible for about 1/2 of all sinus infections. He discovered that I was not well protected against this organism and administered a ""pneumonia shot"" that corrected this problem. Since that time, I have not had a single sinus infection. My daughter has also had recurrent sinus infections (and had tons of ear infections as a young child), Dr.Mike suggested the same immune evaluation for her and found that she had not made protective antibodies to the 4 Strep. pnuemonia vaccines (PCV-7) she was given before age 2. She was given the pneumovax shot (PCV-23) as well and has had a dramatically reduced frequency of infections. My whole family loves their office and staff. I could not more wholeheartedly recommend an allergist to those with similar medical or cat problems). We especially love Maggie the shot nurse, sometimes I can't even feel the shot when it is given to me and the clinic shot hours are great. I don't know any other office that is open at 0730 in the am.

As a lifelong sufferer of skin allergies and more recently, environmental allergies, I have found success with the treatment advice of Dr. Adrianne Vaughn. My symptoms have been under control for many years due to Dr. Vaughn's intervention.
My quality of life has been greatly improved with my allergies and exercise-induced asthma in check. I enjoy regular outdoor activities regardless of the season thanks to Dr. Vaughn.
I urge allergy sufferers to take the first, most important step and call the Alamo Asthma & Allergy clinic.
I would first like to say that I would not be alive today if it were not for the care of Drs.Michael and Adrianne Vaughn. Both Drs. together saved my life. I have severe allergies and severe asthma, when I moved to South Texas 9 years ago I did not realize that my allergies were that bad. I was recommended to Alamo Asthma & Allergy by a friend. The Drs. first tested me and began treating me for my asthma. I went from having an Asthma attack every other day to once a month. I now get a Xolair shot for my asthma (its like magic). I also get allergy shots. The Drs. Are blessed to have a wonderful careing staff thats been with them for a long time. That tells you something about his practice. I recommend the Drs. to all my friends and family and coworkers. I honestly can not speak highly enough of these Drs & staff. If you or your friends suffer from allergies or asthma don't wait ,call and make an appointment today.
The Vaughn's are friendly, professional doctors that do everything they possibly can to help me and my kids with our allergies and low immune systems. Their quick and easy to get scheduled with and very thourough in care. I am very pleased with the service and the staff are very informative and friendly as well. Would recommend to all family and friends!

With 4 kids living in South Texas it seems there is always something in the air. I appreciate the Drs. no nonsense way of treating mine and my kids allergies. I was not aware allergies could be cured until we started going to Alamo Asthma & Allergy. I also like the fact I can get any paperwork I need for the visit ahead of time from their website. I would recommend this practice to everyone.
I was totally unaware of what was causing my sons condition. It seems he felt this way every year for the past three years. Thanks to Dr. Vaughn, not only is my son free and clear of his infection, but I can see the signs in the air and take better action before it gets worse. The paperwork was easy and quick, and we saw the Dr. in a very short time, though it seemed to be busy. I would definitely recommend this clinic to everyone I know.
I found Dr. Adrianne Vaughn to be very pleasant , competant and genuinely concerned about the overall wellbeing of my daughter. Dr. Vaughn was very thorough in finding the cause of her ailments and in the treatment thereafter. Dr. Vaughn is very accesible and addresses any concerns I may have. The staff was also very professional and pleasant.
Dr Adrianne Vaughn is an extremely personable physician who reviewed my medical history and carefully discussed my medical issues in a relaxed and 45 minute office visit. She took the time to discuss every recommendation in detail and even showed me how to best use the sample medicines she provided. Very Very pleased with this Practice.
- General Info
- Alamo Asthma & Allergy Associates is dedicated to providing diagnosis and treatment of allergies for San Antonio, Texas, and surrounding communities. We treat each patient as a partner and make patient education a central component of medical care. Sensitivity and discretion are used in handling all of our patients' concerns. An allergy/immunology specialist is a physician trained to prevent, diagnosis, manage, and treat allergic and immunologic diseases. Completion of residency training in either pediatrics or internal medicine is required prior to beginning fellowship medical training in allergy. During training, physicians learn to treat both children and adults with a variety of medical problems. Also during training, expertise is developed in performing skin testing for allergies and designing recipes for "allergy shots." Allergy testing and even allergy shots are sometimes offered by non-allergy trained physicians. The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology f eels that allergy shots should be formulated and administered only by those physicians who have had specific medical training in this area.
