I will no longer be taking my 4 pets to 4 Paws Animal Hospital. My family (meaning parents, aunt, grandma, and brother) have been taking our pets there since they pretty much opened and never had any problems. Recently the main doctor has been gone a lot of they're hiring a lot of new staff and the problems keep happening more often. For myself, it started a little over a year ago when I rescued my poodle from the streets and took him in to get checked. We rescue animals all the time and take them there. We don't care what the cost is, we just want our animals to be healthy. So I took him in to get checked completely and they said he was perfectly fine, updated his shots and that was that. I noticed he had very bad breath and although I get his teeth brushed every time I get him groomed, the odor was still there. I inquired about it and they said his teeth were fine. But every time I would ask when I was there, I'd wait over an hour to see someone, they'd walk in, say hi, open his mouth and that was that. I FINALLY got someone I've never seen before to check his teeth and he got an attitude with ME and said he had serious tartar build up that needed to be cleaned by putting him under anesthesia. I don't have a problem with that, but the fact that I've been asking for over a year and no one really ever looked at my dog and when they finally do I get attitude for it? Yeah no. THEN I finally got an appointment to get my dachshund spayed after trying for too long and (my co worker was sitting next to me and heard me schedule the appointment) I take her in bright and early while on the clock at work and they say I wasn't scheduled and there were 3 surgeries that day already. So I ask when they might be able to get to her and I got Thursday (mind you I was there on Monday). Because yet again the doctor wasn't in the next day and they're close on Wednesdays. I'm sorry but maybe you need that extra day to be open to take care of your loyal (not anymore) customers. And they even wanted me to leave her there the entire week until Thursday. Why am I going to pay you an arm and a leg for boarding for your mistake 4 Paws? So I took my dog with me back to work and called Pet Medical Center of San Antonio at 7811 Mainland Dr, San Antonio, TX 78250 (210) 681-8333 which fit me in the very next day (they had openings the same day but of course I needed to get back to work). Now I have taken her to 4 Paws right after I got her and keep up with her appointments where they also "check her teeth". But when I took her to get fixed, I was shown that her baby teeth were still in and were not going to fall out on their own so they needed to be pulled. They took care of her very well unlike 4 Paws and it was actually cheaper to get her spayed there. If you continue to take your pets here, please make sure they actually check your pets thoroughly but I honestly would not trust them. Sad to say after many years of good service, I will not be returning there.

Not that great

I am begining to believe the only reason people go to 4paws is because it's kind of cheap, but you won't ever see the vet only techs and they don't know the answers because they leave the room then come back in with an explanation. The older front desk lady is rude and doesn't know what she's doing at all. I would just rather pay more money for experience and for my pet to actually be seen by the doctor.

Great Animal Hospital

I like going to this animal hospital because they are great and nice, Its small and not crowded. I get helped quickly and get everything I need for my dog right there. They even have a groomer next door, and they have the cutest pet clohing items.

Dr. Jaimez is great!

I am very pleased with the services Dr. Jaimez has provided to my pets over the past 15+ years. She is very caring, thorough, and professional with her patients and their owners. Also, I appreciate that she sees her patients by appointment as well as a walk-in. I recommend her highly.

Dr J is great. She really cares for the animals she treats. I would recommend her office to anyone.

You may have to wait a little, but I think that any pet owner would love the fact that Dr J takes time with the animals she treats not rushing on to the next visit like other vets do. She also takes the time to explain conditions and treatments of them to you clearly. When I bring one of my dogs in, she always asks how the others are doing using their names, so I know she cares.

Not a good Experience

I decided to use this vet when I read the other review. I did not have a good experience. First I took my cat in for his annual shots and his yearly checkup. The people there were very unorganized, the doctor did not seem very knowledgeable, and the wait was tremendous. At one point in the room my cat got away from me and got stuck in a hole under the table. When the staff member walked in she didn't offer to help she just laughed at me trying to get my cat out.I decide to try this vet a second time, the review was so favorable, and I had a friend that took her dog and had a great experience. I thought maybe this vet, just doesn't do well with cats. This visit was just as bad! The whole visit took over 3 hours! This was just to get puppy shots! The receptionist was not polite, the whole office was very slow and inattentive. The vet was only interested in money. I didn't feel that she cared at all about me or my pets. I DO NOT RECOMEND!!!

Dr J personally attends to all animals.

A few months back, I had to put one of my cherished dogs to sleep to due to a worsening condition. Dr J personally attended to my pet; staying late hours to monitor her condition rather than sending her to an overnight clinic after her own clinic closed for the day. Dr J was optimistic but realistic on her diagnosis and extremely accurate. She referred my pet out to a specialist who later confirmed Dr J's original diagnosis. It should be noted that she is also a Veternarian instructor at one of the local colleges for one of the Vet tech programs. I have heard nothing but exceptional reviews from students regarding her knowledge and expertise.
